Location description from owner

The County Donegal region

The Inishowen Peninsula is in the most northerly part of Donegal. The fantastic scenery, the ever changing skies and their reflection on the water are a constant delight to watch. The gentle hills and the rugged mountains are a pleasure for hill-walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. A great variety of beautiful sandy beaches for water sports and family fun.

Inishowen is also very convenient for the Antrim Coast in Northern Ireland where there are plenty of other attractions - the Giant's Causeway, Downhill Strand (the longest beach in Europe), Bushmills Whiskey Distillery, and the pretty seaside towns of Portrush and Portstewart. A ferry takes you across the mouth of Lough Foyle (a 15 minute journey) and then you're well on your way to the spectacular scenery of the Antrim Coast

Donegal has no less than 11 Blue Flag standard beaches and those at Culdaff, Kinnagoe Bay and Lisfannon on Inishowen are examples of some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in Ireland.

Greencastle

In the immediate vicinity you'll find Big White Bay our very own Blue Flag beach which is a short walk from the house. There is also a local pub 'Michael John's which is a five minute walk form the house.

Greencastle is the nearest village to Tara's House - a five minute drive form the house. It is a commercial fishing port with a very picturesque harbour area and the ferry terminal to take you over to Northern Ireland. Greencastle has three pubs, two restaurants and a fish and chip shop as well as two well stocked conveneince stores.

Another 5 minutes down the road is the larger town of Moville which has two supermarkets and a range of other shops and activities.

There is a huge range of activities that can be enjoyed in the local area:

- Sailing, Surfing, Kayaking and Diving
- Shore Walks (Shore Path from Moville to Greencastle)
- Beautiful local beaches e.g. Kinnegoe Bay, Shroove,Culdaff
- The Famous walled city of Derry (20 min drive) City of Culture 2013
