Please read the important stuff!!

● There is no Wi-Fi. Well, it's not reliable in the cottage. There is Wi-Fi at the water.

● There is no TV.

● We live on-site with 2 friendly, off-leash dogs. If you don't like dogs, don't stay here.

● If it's too windy or if it's raining, you shouldn't have a campfire.

● If the weather sucks, we can't take you on a boat ride.

● Bring water to drink (the water here is from a well).

● Located on an island. Access is by drive-on ferry. Getting on costs $8 but leaving the island is free.

● There are only houses on the island so please plan your trip accordingly.

▪︎Listen to the birds sing as you sip your morning coffee on the balcony off the front bedroom with a small table & 2 chairs.

▪︎Pack light! 2 full bathrooms with complimentary towels, shampoo, conditioner & handcrafted soaps are provided for your convenience.

▪︎Enjoy cooking your meals in a small but full galley kitchen, equipped with gas stove & eating nook.

▪︎The barbeque is just a short dash away through sliding doors from the kitchen.

▪︎Chill out after a fun day in the sun! Grab a drink & gaze at the countless stars from a Muskoka chair at the fire pit in your front yard.

▪︎There is no reliable Wi-Fi here, but if that's a deal-breaker, access is better at the dock or closer to my house (my family lives next door).

We provide bedding & linens, 1 towel + 1 washcloth/person, dishes/kitchenware, a 4 liter jug of water, TP & basic toiletries, propane & firewood. We do not supply or have paper towels. You'll also need to bring more water for drinking - our water is fine for dishes & showering.

We have 2 super friendly (off-leash) big dogs. As we live next door, they will more than likely visit at some point during your stay. Guests who are afraid of dogs should not attend the cottage.

■If you plan on doing some fishing here during your stay, you need to have a valid fishing license (can be purchased inexpensively online for weekly use) & your own equipment (rod, lures, worms, etc.).

With 4 other rental cottage spaces on the surrounding properties, Hideout on Howe is set up to entertain many guests at the same time. This cottage is not waterfront but shares waterfront space. The volleyball court is shared among guests as well.

☆Located on an island serviced by two ferries, Hideout is just minutes from beautiful Gananoque (the "Gateway to the 1000 Islands"). Local attractions include the renown 1000 Islands Playhouse, the Gan Brewing Company, the 1000 Islands History Museum, the Joel Stone Heritage Park with public playground, splash pad & sandy beach, the Marble Rock Conservation Area, the 1000 Islands Boat Museum, 2 or 4 hour cruises on the Gananoque Boat Line, numerous galleries, helicopter tours, kayaking day trips, & so much more. Join us for lunch at one of our favourite waterfront restaurants! There are several family/group friendly activities available. ■□■We require a 500 dollar deposit through the platform, shortly before arrival on our property. Upon checkout, we'll inspect for damages & extra cleaning (the space must be left as you found it - tidy). Broken glass, furniture, clogged septic pump from flushing anything other than human waste/toilet paper, ripped screens, bottle caps/cigarette butts on the ground, holes in walls, dirty dishes, excessive amounts of bugs inside due to leaving doors open, etc. requires extra cleaning costs & time that your deposit will cover. If the space/property is left in the same condition as you found it, all of the deposit will be returned upon checkout after we verify.■□■

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
