From the house and its spacious rooms, you can enjoy fantastic sea and mountain views, more impressive even if you access the infinity Pool with tropical design and palm trees located in front of the house. The Panorama Pool is located on the upper level and is open all year round. The sunbeds are free and there is no problem of finding always available ones around for you to enjoy them. The courtyard garden is located on the right-hand side of the house and the terrace solarium with barbecue is on the left-hand side. The kitchen and living room are in between, making it ideal for a relaxing holiday without space issues. The four bedrooms are on the second and third floor. The master bedroom, very spacious, has another terrace in front and windows on the side, en-suite double bathroom (bathtub and shower tray completely separated). There is another full bathroom beside the upper bedroom and a toilet beside the first bedroom all distributed evenly on

*** Activities and attractions ***

Beaches in different types around the house area: tropical green grass beaches, sandy and cove beaches, small pebbles, cliff, promenades all along the seaside with so many restaurants and bars to chill-out. Good food, free snacks (paella, fresh fish, BBQ portions, etc) come with one beer or glass of wine in all the bars and restaurants. And for sports lovers: hiking, cycling, tennis, paragliding, skiing in Sierra Nevada, golf, etc. Cultural and historical tourism 5 minutes away in the town center and the amusing Palace of La Alhambra in Granada fifty minutes drive.

*** The area ***

The house is located in the residential area of "Fuentes de Almuñecar" in the Tropical Coast. It´s nice and very well maintained. All around are mountain and beach landscapes and its tropical climate, mild in summer and warm in winter, with 320 sunny days a year as an average, attracts travelers all year round. It is very close (4 minutes by car) to different types of beaches: sandy coves, tropical green grass and palm trees, small pebbles or cliffs and more enlivened beaches with its promenade and town center (5 minutes drive) with all kinds of shops, bars and cheerful all year round. This town has a live of its own. For skiing lovers, Sierra Nevada, just 50 min drive, is an ideal choice. And for those who prefer the historical and cultural tourism, the moresque palace of La Alhambra in Granada, 55 min drive, and the old town will leave an unforgettable print in your memory. The house is large and comfortable with great views, Almunecar is a great place, small enough to retain it's charm, big enough to have ample shops and restaurants. It's really a Spanish Resort, so prices are cheap and unlike the Costa del Sol, you really feel you are in Spain.

Perfectly situated in a quiet residential area, with sea and mountains view and close to the beach and town, it is ideal for both as a home and a holiday base. There is easy access to the main roads/motorways leading to Malaga and Granada within an hour, and yet being in a semiprivate area with surveillance and maintenance, it is completely protected from any traffic. I use to go down to the beach by jogging in ten minutes and breathe deeply in front of the sea. Almuñécar old town is 700 meters away. Almuñécar moorish castle is about 700 meters from the house. Marina del Este sport club is 1 km away. Beyond, is the pretty village and horseshoe-shaped bay of La Herradura and another large natural promontory. Farmhouses and small hamlets dot the area overlooked by the Peña Escrita natural park. Granada and the old moresque castle of La Alhambra 70 km. Sierra Nevada ski resort 80 km.

The residential area is populated with gardens and palm trees, it´s perfectly located and well protected from winds, noises or other nuisances. Provided with private surveillance and maintenance. The Almuñecar town and coastline offers you as much as you can get, from relaxing to all the sports and acuatic activities you want to enjoy. Nice free tapas and snacks come with a beer or cup of wine in all the restaurants in the area.

The Andalucia region

Almuñécar and La Herradura form the tourist capital of the Costa Tropical. This relatively unknown stretch of Spain's southern coastline belongs to Granada province in Andalucia. It lies between the more populous Costa del Sol to the west, and the coast of Almería to the east.

It's here that the continent of Africa is trying, and noticeably succeeding, to push its way under the mass of Europe. The dramatic results are what give the Costa Tropical its special geography and climate, so unlike any other coastline in southern Spain.

Rugged hills thrust up steeply from valley floors or plunge into the sea. Seasonal torrents, often swollen by melting snows, cut jagged ravines deep into the landscape. Once-forrested hillsides, now denuded of their fertile topsoil, provide a scanty foothold for almond, olive and the hardy carob. Small villages and farming communities have developed in sheltered valleys or simply cling like limpets to the hillsides.

And above everything towers the grand Sierra Nevada. These mountains, which boast among them the highest peak in mainland Spain, form a natural weather-break which protects the Granadan coastline from the worst influences of the European winters, while Africa, to the south, helps buffer the harsh effects of both the Mediterranean and Atlantic weather. As a result, the area has an extraordinarily benign subtropical climate which can be seen in the variety of exotic products to be found in the local markets, especially the different fruits.

Fuentes de Almunecar

Almuñécar and its handsome Moorish castle sit on a small hill between the mouths of two rivers - the Río Seco and the larger Río Verde. The latter runs through Almuñécar's Tropical Valley, a fertile area of mainly subtropical fruit orchards that line the valley floor and climb the terraced hillsides. To the west of the town lies the Punta de la Mona, a pineclad headland sheltering the attractive Marina del Este sports port and home to a number of luxury urbanisations. Beyond, is the pretty village and horseshoe-shaped bay of La Herradura and another large natural promontory, Cerro Gordo, which marks the end of the municipality and province. Inland, the approximately 80 km² municipality rises into the hills which form an impressive backdrop to the coast. Farmhouses and small hamlets dot the area overlooked by the Peña Escrita natural park.

Almuñécar was founded by the Phoenicians almost 3000 years ago and has since been occupied by a succession of Mediterranean cultures including, most importantly, the Romans and the Moors. Attracted by the rich trade in local products, the town was one of the most important ports on Spain's Mediterranean coast. Evidence of the area's importance can be seen in the numerous monuments that still exist, especially the Roman fish factory and aqueduct.

Along the 19 km of local coastline visitors can choose from a large variety of beaches and small coves, ranging from fine sand to shingle. Water sports are very popular and there are numerous businesses offering different types of courses and equipment hire. Divers will find some of the best underwater scenery here of anywhere along the southern coast.

Hindered by the rugged geography, development has been mostly restricted to the coast and its adjacent hillsides. Recent years, however, have seen a shift in the "sun, sea and sand" mentality and many people have bought farmhouses or plots of land in the surrounding hills. Rural tourism, though slow to take off, is on the increase.

Based originally on agriculture and fishing, the local economy is now concentrated almost entirely on tourism and recent years have seen a huge surge in the local infrastructure. Numerous hotels, chalets and apartments are being constructed to cope with the increasing number of visitors, both seasonal and permanent, and shops and services are being opened at a corresponding rate. Cheaper flights and the lousy north European weather have prompted many to buy second homes in the area, while increased telecommunications, especially the Internet, mean that many professionals can work here seasonally if not throughout the whole year.

Local tourism has traditionally been Spanish and confined to the summer season, especially August when the town is packed out. Important fiestas such as Easter and Christmas are also very busy. Foreigners tend to visit mostly during the Spring and Autumn months when the weather can be superb compared to the north, while winter, apart from Christmas, is relatively quiet. Many visitors rent chalets or apartments for their stays.

Foreign residents are a mixed bunch with representatives from most European countries living here year round. French, Belgian, German and English nationalities are the most common, though not necessarily in that order, while the Scandinavians, particularly the Danish, are increasing their numbers.

“A great house, nice beaches, magnificent views and swimming pools”

We were in this house in the first half of September with family and nephews. We enjoyed the two pools, perfectly maintained with life guard, a lot of space and free sunbeds, better than in a five stars hotel. The magnificent views, delightful beaches, for swimming and snorkling were great, felt like we were in an aquarium. The center of Almunecar and its medieval castle we loved it!!!, you get real nice tapas for free with beers and sangría. The house is very well equipped, kitchen with all and very spacious rooms in one of the best residential areas that we have stayed. We´ll be back for sure!. thanks a lot
