From the owner

An historic house dating back to the 15th century with later editions. Beautifully decorated as a home with antique furnishings and art. The house is extremely private and set within 2000 acres of gardens, parkland and farms.

Perfect for shooting parties in season, golfing parties year-round, the house is also an ideal venue for smaller weddings, private parties and meetings. The house is heated by a bio-mass system and is extremely warm even in the depths of winter. The elegant reception rooms on the ground floor are spacious and bright with large windows. All have log fires. A second dining hall dates back to the 1400s and is particularly atmospheric.

In addition to the rental price, we charge a daily service fee of £135 per person. This fee includes twice-daily housekeeping, all meals and drinks as well as house wines and spirits. This is based on a minimum of 14 adults.

We have an excellent team of friendly staff who will organise and look after you.

The shoot runs from 1 October through to 31 January and has been taking place for well over 35 years. We shoot for pheasant, partridge, guinea fowl and duck. This must be booked at time of reservation to guarantee availability.

Surrounded by fully tended gardens, there is a stocked pond with a rowing boat, over a mile of river through the Estate and an all-weather tennis court. In the gardens, there are numerous places to enjoy a picnic as well as the croquet lawn and terrace which has a large table for up to 30 guests with a BBQ and wood-burning pizza oven.

The tower terrace with its fire pit is perfect for drinks before dinner.

Carnell is just over 35 minutes from Glasgow International Airport and 10 minutes drive from Kilmarnock. Helicopters can land in the grounds.

There are excellent golf courses within a short drive including Troon (2016 Open), Dundonald Links, Prestwick and Turnberry.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You’ll need to contact Adrienne (the owner) to do this. Send them a message in Manage your holiday booking or through the contact form on this page.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Adrienne (the owner) a message.

If Adrienne (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
