“Home from home”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2016

We stayed in this charming house in Eymet for a week. We were met by the charming owners (who had also offered to pick us up from the airport) who showed us around the property. It had everything we needed for a week's stay and the house also had a charming courtyard, which was wonderful as the weather was so warm. The house is in a great location, just a very short walk to all the restaurants and bars of Eymet and was a great base for exploring the french countryside. All in all a lovely stay and a lovely holiday.

“Friendly helpful owners, house clean, comfortable and spacious with sunny gardenette”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2015

The owners collected up from the airport and drove us our accommodation for free! Later on in our holiday, as we didn't hire a car, drove us round the Dordogne area visiting places of interest. They are such nice people. Accommodation was as described and we particularly liked the little garden too. Eymet is an ancient town with architecture dating from the 13th century, wooden beams, stone houses and cobbled streets. It has a town square, a lake with swans, bustling market once a week and all shops are within walking distance. There are restaurants, 3 supermarkets, bakers, butchers, chemist, antique shops etc. Despite a mixture of French and English residents , some of Eymet's shopkeepers only speak French;so "brushing up" on the language advisable. Highly recommended as a peaceful holiday base with everything on hand.

“delightful, warm welcome”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2015

The whole friendly family met us in Eymet and helped us get our bearings by driving us to the local shop. The house is comfortable, with plenty of wood for the wood-burner in the living room/kitchen and a little courtyard where mint grows, that we picked for mint tea. It's peaceful, despite being close to the lovely medieval square with its bars and restaurants, excellent boulangerie and lively Thursday market. Eymet is a bastide town on a pretty river and close to a lake. People are relaxed, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed listening to some excellent musicians, riverside walks and relaxing in the bar on the corner. Recommended for bird-watchers, wild flower spotters and history buffs. Teenagers might find it too quiet but young children might like joining the others fishing in the river.
