Description

Our house was converted from 2 houses that housed vinegrowers families from about 1850. Downstairs are 2 airy and spacious rooms, the kitchen/diner and a high ceilinged lounge with exposed beams and wood burning stove. There is also a showeroom and separate wc on this floor. Upstairs, off a landing, are 3 double bedrooms and a bathroom. All the rooms are south facing, looking out onto the garden.

Outside there is a walled garden with fruit trees and a grassed area; private and secure. A small barn doubles as a garage.

Our country house is ideal for families and offers a calm and relaxing place in which to unwind.

Further details

On booking visitors are required to pay a deposit of 25% of the rental. The balance is payable 6 weeks before the start of the rental period together with a £100 returnable security deposit.

Bicycles are available through an English run hire company who deliver to the door.

Our house is right on the border of two departments, Charente Maritime and Charente. Charente Maritime is a popular holiday destination and is characterized by its long coastline, its islands, estuaries and of course the major tourist attractions of La Rochelle and Royan with its huge Atlantic beaches.

The Charente department has endless vineyards, historic towns such as Angouleme and Cognac and of course the beautiful Charente River.

Cognac

The countryside surrounding our country house is relatively flat and ideal for walking and cycling through the acres of vineyards. 15 kms away the historic town of Cognac provides numerous cultural and fun activities.

Museums, river trips, outdoor swimming, fishing, tours of the Cognac houses, and scores of bars and restaurants. During the Summer the town hosts a number of festivals including a world famous Blues Festival in July.
