Tear yourself away from this oasis of calm and the historic town of Chasseneuil sur Bonnieure is just a short walk away for you to discover the restaurants, shops, supermarkets and many other facilities it offers. Too energetic? Just take a seat at one of the Bistro's or Cafe's and relax with a cup or glass of something refreshing.

The local area has an abundance of historical sights, sporting activities and wonderful places to visit. Situated in an easy to reach location from all directions it has both a prehistoric and extensive Roman history. In fact 2000 years ago the Romans used it as a crossing point for its armies travelling across Europe and beyond. Some of the roads they built are still in existence. Head West for la Rochelle, Royan and the South West coast. Go South to Cognac and Bordeaux, East to Limoges-go by train from Chasseneuil, North will take you to Paris and the UK. Too far? Try walking or cycling or horse riding through the countryside. You won't see many cars on your travels.

Location description from owner

The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region

Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure

The area is semi rural with little heavy industry so the surroundings tend to be farming and rural landscapes. Towns such as Chasseneuil and our nearest nieghbour, la Rochefoucauld, are generally well equipped with restaurants, shops and services, many quite traditional except for the major supermarkets. The Towns are not large but often pretty and full of character, parking is not usually a problem. Limoges city is a scenic train ride away as well as Angouleme. Much of the area has pre historic roots as well as evidence of the Roman times. A lot of historical sights can be seen close by. There are a number of sporting and leisure facilities for visitors.

Getting around

The area is very easy to get around. Quiet country roads and a good mix of major, but not overly busy, roads are nearby. The town has been well known since Roman times, 2000 years ago, as a major crossing route in France and stopping point for much of the continent. Visitors find that, just as the Romans did, the go in any direction will bring you out into the major cities and historical sights and coasts of South West France.

Interaction with guest

We live on site and are always available to help and advise our guests when required. We accept that guests want privacy and we endeavour to give them the space to enjoy themselves combined with whatever support they need. Enjoying the company and presence of visitors from all over the world is a major factor of our business and we are only too happy if our guests want to interact with us and many do. Ultimately it our guests who decide the level of interaction they would like and for us to respect their wishes. The most important thing is for them to enjoy their time with us.
