Enjoy a rural retreat away from it all and take the opportunity to be a part of an authentic Irish rural community. This is the perfect location from which to explore the wild and rugged west of Ireland. The cottage is situated on 30 acres of countryside with a beautiful river flowing though it. There is world class fishing close by. Other activities in the area include horse riding, hiking, falconry. The village of Carracastle, where the cottage is located, has a pub, shop, post office, and church

The cottage is located 5 miles from Ballaghaderreen, which has a range fs shops, pubs and restaurants to experience. It also has a large supermarket to stock up if you wish to.

We are located about a half an hour drive from Castlebar, and 45 minutes from Westport and Sligp. All fantastic day trips.

Knock International airport is a 20 minute drive

Charlestown

There is so much see and do. Why not try some hors riding or experience falconry.You could go and see Tourmakeady waterfall which is pictured, and is about a 45 minute drive, when finished thre you can talk a scenic tour towards Leenane which is a drive you will never forget.Croagh Patrick, a pilgrimage mountain is only a 45 minute drive away.Sligo and Yeats country is a 30 minute drive away.- Rosses point and Strand Hill are lovely beachesAchill Island is a longer drive, but getting there is half the joy, you will experience sheep traffic jams which you should simply stop and enjpy.If you fancy about if shopping, you have Sligo, Castlebar, within a half an hour and Westport within 45 minutesCong, where the Quiet man was shot is also within a short dive.We have world class fishing close b within a 30 minute drive, in the river Moy.You will not get to do it all, you will have to come back and do the rest!
