From the owner

Les Sureaux is on the edge of a peaceful little village on the side of the Allier Gorge in the southern Auvergne – a region of forests, extinct volcanoes, lakes and white water rivers. The house, which easily accommodates 10, is set in an acre of gardens and surrounded by meadows, woodland and superb views. With traffic free tracks and quiet mountain roads it provides the perfect base for a wide range of outdoor activities including trail walking, biking, climbing, swimming, sailing, rafting and kayaking.

Just 25 minutes by car is the medieval cathedral city of Le Puy-en-Velay, with its pilgrim walking routes, high cobbled alleys, street markets and specialty shops. Michelin restaurants and an abundance of small family-run auberges in the surrounding countryside provide the total eating experience in the most affordable rural region of France.

The house has a well-equipped kitchen, pantry and dining area; large lounge room with open fire; 2 double, 3 twin bedrooms + additional dormitory if required. Most bedrooms have their own shower or en-suite, with 3 toilets on the first floor and an additional toilet on the ground floor. Facilities include dishwasher, washing machine, separate cinema room with 300-title film library, wireless internet, satellite TV, central heating and club/bar room for music and entertaining. Outside is an arched barbecue area and numerous quiet sitting and eating spots with views to the Monts du Velay and across the Gorges D’Allier. A grassed terrace at the rear of the property is a perfect spot for evening drinks to watch the sunset and the huge skies of the Massif Central. A large flat lawn provides an outdoor games space and the village has its own 'terrrain de boules' available for anyone wishing to use it. A good tennis court and forest exercise trails are less than 10 minutes drive away.

Mountain and road bikes, tennis racquets, table tennis and badminton equipment are available.

Guests will have the opportunity to use organic vegetables and fruit from the gardens as well as home-produced preserves and locally-sourced eggs, milk, beef and the Puy green lentils for which the area is renowned.

Off-road parking is available for 3 cars.

Les Sureaux provides an ideal location for families wanting to holiday together or groups enjoying an activity-oriented reunion or retreat.
