The Gîte has a private patio with table and chairs and charcoal barbecue. Our 10m x 3m heated pool is available for the exclusive use of our guests. The pool area is not overlooked and provides spectacular views of the Dordogne valley.

Because the gîte is located on a hillside, there are many steps and the garden is on different levels. Access to the upstairs of the gîte is by steep stairs and is therefore not recommended for anyone with poor mobility.

Location description from owner

The Dordogne region

Ever popular with British holidaymakers (as well as Dutch and Belgians), the Dordogne area is rich with history and benefits from a wonderful climate with long hot summers and wonderful gastronomy (famed for it's duck and goose products). Canoeing is ever popular on the Dordogne and Vézère rivers along with cycling the glorious contryside. The nearby town of Les Eyzies is a world centre for pre-history.

Castels

Close to the historic market town of Sarlat-la-Canèda, we are ideally situated to explore the delights of the Dordogne valley. Located within minutes of the popular tourist sites of Beynac, Chateau de Castelnaud, les Jardin des Marqueyssac, and the prehistoric sites of the Vézère valley at Les Eyzies.

Our pretty local town of St Cyprien has a large weekly Sunday market, a large supermarket with petrol station and several banks. We have several good restaurants nearby and for all other needs, our main town of Sarlat is just a 15-20 minute drive away. We have several excellent restaurants and local boulangerie nearby.

“A hidden gem.”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2015

This lovely property is tucked away above the main road between St. Cyprien and Sarlat with beautiful views across the Dordogne valley either from the very pretty garden terrace or the pool. The accommodation we stayed in is very comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped, with space outside for eating al-fresco. Our excellent hosts greeted us on the first night with drinks on the terrace and figs from the trees. They recommended a local restaurant, the Epicure, for a special meal which we had on our last evening - delicious! There is an abundance of chateaux to visit nearby. We visited the beautiful Chateau Les Milandes, former home of Josephine Baker, and notable also for spectacular falconry displays. The small town of Dome is a must for spectacular views of the Dordogne river and valley below. A lovely place to stay.

Thank you for your kind words and lovely review! Glad you enjoyed your meal at Le Bistrot D'Epicure. We hope to see you again soon.

“Wonderful Dordogne Week”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2015

A great place to stay , to explore the Dordogne Valley. Shona and STeve are great hosts for the Gite , lovely welcome drink , which was a nice touch. Everything you could want in the gite , including good wi-fi and UK cable channels on TV. Marvellous heated pool. The gite is located in a very convenient place, close to St Cyprien village , which has a supermarket and bakery and many restaurants. Also close to Sarlat. The Gite is not air conditioned, but the nights cool down and you can open the windows wide to allow air into the bedrooms. We were there during a very hot week. All in all we loved our stay and would like to return.

Thanks you for all your kind comments. It is a very convenient location and the pool is always refreshing for a cool down in all this hot weather. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your holiday with us and would love to see you here again.

“Highly Recommend”

Reviewed 26 May 2015

Booking La Petite Baronnie was on the back of a recommendation from a friend of mine and i was not disappointed. The Gite itself was lovely, there was a very welcoming feel about it and above all was clean and well kept. The location of La Petite Baronnie is simply beautiful, the views are incredible and is very close to so many attractions that the Dordogne has to offer. Whether it is the History of Beynac or the views of Domme, there is something for all the family, very close to home. I would just like to point out aswell and Steve and Shona Wisedale, the owners of La Petit Baronnie were also very welcoming and accommodating to our needs. Meeting them was a pleasure and i will be returning.

We're so glad that you weren't disappointed. We aim to make everyone's holiday the best we can and are open to suggestions for ways to improve the experience. We are lucky that there is so much to see and do right on our doorstep.

“Great location with pretty villages close by to visit”

Reviewed 22 May 2015

We had a great time here. The Gite has been fitted to a high standard & was lovely & clean. There are lots of villages around & places to visit. There is a lovely heated swimming pool with loungers & a lovely seating area outside the Gite to eat. It's a nice quiet location with lovely gardens & views while being easy to get to local towns & villages in a car.

Many thanks for your review. We are so glad that you had a good holiday and we look forward to welcoming you to La Petite Baronnie again.
