Situated on the route de Saint Jacques de Compostelle ("Way of Saint James" the famous pilgrims walking route to Santiago de Compostella in Northern Spain) our home is a beautiful stone farmhouse with outbuildings including a stone pigeonnier full of character, which was converted into a two bedroom/bathroom gite/cottage in 2010.
La Maison du Soleil has two large bedrooms with opened beamed ceilings each with ensuite and separate toilets. The main living area has a fully equipped kitchen/dining area and lounge with large flatscreen tv, free wifi and ipod dock. A private terrace to the back of the property boasts wonderful views and has a large patio set, deckchairs a parasol and a BBQ.
The 6mx12m salt water pool is surrounded by a lovely stone wall sheltering it from any wind and it is also gated for security and the safety of young children.
For those who want to burn off some excess energy or escape from the midday heat we have added a games room converted from an old stone barn. It has a full size table tennis table, professional table football, large air hockey table and dartboard, as well as a fridge, stepping machine and a seating area. For the younger members of the family there is a large trampoline and garden games available, including badminton, croquet and rounders. We also have a number of bikes to hire if you prefer to explore the area under your own steam.
The gardens are mainly laid to lawn and are perfect for strolling around in the warm evening sunshine contemplating the activities for the following day, of course a glass of wine to aid in your decision making is a must!
The large purpose built BBQ area adjoining the pool house has a vine covered terrace overlooking the lake with valley views beyond. Subtle lighting and lanterns adorn this little enclave. Mixed with the warm evening air and the sound of lapping water from the pool, it creates a perfect ambiance for that alfresco experience that you crave all winter for!
Fishing in our private lake is a great way to introduce the children to a new sport. We have both rods and poles for hire and as the lake is teaming with lots of small and medium sized fish - on the first drop of the line you are almost guaranteed to get a nibble!

Large en suites 5mx3m contain a white bathroom suite housing a bath with shower head facility, a separate large shower, sink and bidet with a separate toilet. The lounge area is furnished in neutral colours with an L shaped sofa and single chair and a 37" flat screen tv with freesat. WIFI is also available throughout the property, together with an ipod dock. A wood burner was recently installed in main lounge to make winter stays warm and cosy. The cottage has its own private terrace with patio furniture, parasol and BBQ overlooking the front garden and is a perfect place to sit and watch the children play football on the lawn or just to enjoy the sunshine and the peace and quiet.

Surrounded by open farmland the front of the property is approached along a private graveled drive from two directions with extensive lawned gardens and parkland with plenty of parking. It is also within walking distance of a small village with an affordable but high quality restaurant popular with locals and tourists alike. Booking is recommended, although there are numerous other restaurants to choose from all within 10 minutes of the cottage. The front garden of about 1ha (approx 2 acres) is mainly laid to lawn, containing a selection of trees including an orchard. During the Spring and Summer the lawns are frequently covered with pretty flowers and rare orchids. The garden also has a trampoline with plenty of space for a game of rounders or cricket. A croquet set is available, badminton rackets and net, as well as a rounders bat and ball. Bikes and fishing rods are also available to hire for a small fee. The upper back garden by the house is for the use of our B&B guests and has a pretty water pump feature, surrounded by fragrant roses it is a quiet and peaceful area over looking the larger lower back garden. The parkland surrounding the lake of approximately 3 acres has a number of mature trees and shrubs with beautiful views along the valley. There are no busy roads near the property just peaceful county lanes with views from every angle.
