Located in the Irish Lake District on the Leitrim / Cavan border, our luxury log cabins enjoy an idyllic setting in mature pine forest on the banks of the Woodford River some 7km south of the market town of Ballyconnell. The location enjoys fantastic amenities for angling, walking, adventuring, caving and many other outdoor pursuits. For the less adventurous the chalets offer a wonderful relaxing environment with only the sound of birdsong and occasional children's laughter
Far from the madding crowd, our cabins are ideally suited for couples and families wanting to get away from it all and enjoy peace and quiet as they occupy an idyllic setting deep in the forest. Situated on the banks of the Woodford River the surrounding woodland is home to rare plant species and an abundance of wildlife. Our cabins make the most of their picturesque setting, affording peaceful woodland views and individual privacy. The cabins are equipped with everything you will need for a fantastic holiday, and the attention to the small details of design and finish are evident throughout.
The cabins are fully fitted with all modern conveniences including ceramic hob cooker and fan-oven, fridge/freezer, microwave oven, dish-washer, coffee machine washing machine, satellite TV (Sky Freeview), CD / Blueray player, extensive library of various books and children's books and luxury spa bath. High quality bed linen and towels are provided.
The cabins can easily accommodate three couples in three bedrooms, three bathrooms (one en suite). Space to park three cars at each cabin. The cabins and balconies are totally non-smoking.
Please note that the cabins are suitable for couples and family groups wanting peace and quiet with a maximum occupancy of 6 adults and two additional young children.
We do not accept bookings from groups of unsupervised teenagers nor do we rent the property for "parties" and any misleading bookings for same will be cancelled on arrival.
Dogs are welcome but we do limit this to two.

“Wanted to go home like a bat out of hell”
Our stay was completely ruined by a nest of bats also sharing our lodge with us. When we contacted the owner he was completely dismissive and patronising. When we finally got them out by ourselves, we were still on edge the whole stay. In addition the water is dark brown and only one shower had hot water every now and again meaning if you wanted to wash you had to have a bath in muck. Whilst the jacuzzi looks gorgeous it is by no means relaxing in reality. A door handle also came off in my 18mth olds hand and hit her on the head. The lodge from the outside and surrounding area is undeniably beautiful but inside it is dated and far from a peaceful get away. Whilst other reviews may be excellent I can honestly say this was one of the worse stays I’ve had. I never ever write bad reviews and actually hate when people nit pick about places or properties but I would avoid this place at all costs.
Owner's reply: You booked for 2 adults and three children but turned up with an additional 2 adults against all advertised booking policies. We made no comment. Firstly, the cabin is located in a forest, the home to a number of bird species, owls, red squirrels, pine martens and small bats and thus it is not impossible for one or more to enter the cabin. As the cabin had been sealed for 48 hours before your arrival (Covid) it is self-evident that by your leaving doors and windows open at dusk you allowed the tiny bats to fly in, which you later trapped by closing the doors and windows. We were not dismissive and had no idea from your phone call that you needed us to travel to the cabin. You were told on arrival that the hot water was on a timer and could be augmented at any time by simply pressing a button and these simple instructions are on the wall of the utility room, equally the electric shower would have hot water at any time. Thus, your comment about shortage of hot water is total nonsense, and as you left 29 wet towels on the floor of the utility room, your claim is also implausible. You were also told that the water was coloured due to peat although perfectly adequate for bathing having no detrimental chemical or bacteriological content. For drinking 10 litres of bottled water was provided. When our cleaners arrived 48 hours after your scheduled departure (Covid) they found the doors unlocked, lights on inside and out, large items of rubbish left around the cabin and an appalling mess inside. We rarely have had the cabin left in such a bad condition that it took over 5 hours to clean instead of the normal 3 hours. In addition we found that you had broken two toilet seats, broken the jacuzzi shower attachment, broken the shower pull-cord, broken door handles, broken crockery, lost parts from board games, pulled curtains off rails, burnt a barbecue instrument and that your “well behaved dog” had urinated on many of the rugs. Also, for some reason best known to yourselves, you had switched off the fridge freezer which had defrosted leaving a large puddle of water on the floor. Log cabins are “old fashioned” and that is the point - they are meant to be and this is what most people love about it – the peace and quiet and being close to nature. The cabin is exactly as shown in the photographs on the website and if you wanted “modern” a log cabin in a forest in the country is not a place you should have booked.
“The perfect log cabin experience”
Me an my family stayed in 36 river valley log cabin in august an it was the perfect place to stay the cabin is loaded with everything u will need for a comfortable stay an we wer greeted by Colin the owner who was very nice an told us all info on the local area of wer to go an wat to do, there is fishing on the doorstep!!!!, he even left a bottle of procecco in the fridge an some chocolates on the table which the kids loved, it was really comfortable with plenty of space an was very clean and tidy, we will defiantly be staying here again in the future

It was absolutely brilliant. However, there were some downfalls such as no coverage or wifi, but then again it was good to escape social media

“Relaxing week away!”
Just returned from a very relaxing week at 36 River Valley and this was definitely a home away from home. It was spotlessly clean and there were lots of extras to make the stay even more comfortable. We will definitely return as it is such a relaxing spot. It was heaven each morning to sit and have coffee listening to the sounds of the local wildlife. Thank you Colin for everything!
