Our lovely Charentais farmhouse, cottage & barn nestles among a gentle landscape of sunflower fields and farmland. The stone-built cottage is over 200 years old and full of character with original fireplaces and wood-burning stoves, oak beams and cottage charm but enjoying all modern comforts. Four large double bedrooms - two en-suite - with beautiful french beds & additional day beds for children sharing. Fully equipped farmhouse kitchens. Two sitting rooms with comfy sofas - one with TV and sky dish.. Downstairs loo. Family bathroom. The attached cottage has 3 double bedrooms, sitting room with sofa bed & fully equipped kitchen & family bathroom. The open-plan barn has been sympathetically renovated with exposed beams & stone walls. It has a double bedroom reached via an oak staircase with ensuite shower room, a large living area with sofa bed and a fully equipped kitchen with dining area. Set in 4 acres of secluded gardens offering lawns and shaded areas ideal for games or just relaxing. Large 10m X 5m heated pool in full sun all day (with easy-open safety cover). Large terrace area ideal for BBQs and alfresco meals. Large courtyard area and terrace to front. Great for Boules! Table tennis room. Indoor games. Selection of adult & children's bikes.The house is totally private with its own stone wall enclosed garden via an iron gated entrance. There is plenty of off street parking and a large open terrace area, facing south to create a safe playground.
Ideal for families or large groups seeking to relax or to use as a base to explore the beautiful Charente Maritime. Nearby there are local markets and shops. Wonderful restaurants, some selling locally caught seafood such as the famous Marenne oysters. There are lovely sandy beaches and a trip to the famous Ile de Re is a must. Wine tasting & vineyard tours & the famous Cognac tours are a very popular visit., Historic towns such as La Rochelle & Saintes are steeped in Roman history and also offer great dining and shopping. Wide range of leisure activities including golf, fishing, walking, windsurfing and horse riding. Cycling is a popular French sport and there are many miles of cycle-friendly tracks to be found and national cycling events held nearby.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Richard (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
