Just 2 kilometers from Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, classified as one of France's most beautiful villages, is this enchanting 16th century home, set admist 20 hectares of wood and meadowland. The home has been owned by the same family since 1875 and is now available for 4-6 guests to enjoy a peaceful holiday in the French countryside.
Guests stay in a wing of the home that is full of period charm such as exposed beams and stone flooring. The living room has a double sofa-bed and fully equipped open-plan kitchen. There's also a cozy fireplace in addition to central heating. A bedroom with double bed and loft with a queen bed, and cushions is on the second floor..
Activities in the area include touring the many food shops, boutiques, restaurants, market and famous churches of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, visiting the famous Cognac, Bergerac, Pomerol and Saint-Emilion vinyards, Comedia dell'Arte mascara, theater and potery workshops as well as outdoor activities such as bird-watching, canoeing, and wild-swimming in the river. The owners provide two canoes to enjoy the river that runs right in front of the house. Two lovely donkeys will welcome you on the property.

Listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne immediately appeals to the visitors with its beautiful houses arranged in an amphitheatre and dominating the River Dronne. The charming wooden balconies decorating the facades of certain houses add to the picturesque nature of the place.
The villages possesses a remarkable historic building, which is unusual: the Saint-Jean monolithic church, an underground church carved out of the rock in the 12th century by the Benedictines. This building has a vault reaching 20 metres high and is the biggest troglodyte church in Europe ! This site should not be missed under any circumstances !
