From the manager

- Peaceful and cozy cabin with amazing views.

Welcome to my cabin in Vadlaheidi. This is a homely and very cozy accommodation

in north Iceland, located only a short (10 min) drive from the town of Akureyri.

Surrounded with stunning nature and even better views, this is the perfect place for a

quiet and relaxing time in between exciting activities that the area has to offer.

LOCATION

The cabin is located in an exclusive residential area in Vadlaheidi, a short 10 minutes

drive from Akureyri, the capital of Northern Iceland. The location of the cabin offers

the best of both worlds, secluded and surrounded by nature but yet close to Akureyri

where you can experience vibrant city life with shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. The

views from the cabin are spectacular in all directions, over Akureyri and Eyjafjord. As

it is located a short distance from the town itself and away from the city lights, it

makes an ideal place to inspect the Aurora Borealis during winter and the amazing

midnight sunsets during summer.

IMPORTANT: Please note that it is essential to have access to a car to being able to

fully exploit this accommodation and the surroundings, as there is no public transport

service nearby.

THE SPACE

The cabin offers a warm and homely feel with every utility needed to make your stay

comfortable. The space consists of a fully equipped kitchenette (with a microwave

instead of an oven), a modern living space where you can walk out on a terrace and

embrace the nature surrounded by the cabin. The living area has a flat screen TV,

Harman Kardon home audio system with a Bluetooth connection, so you can listen to

your favorite music in the highest quality. It also has a grill for summer (or winter)

barbeques, a washing machine and free Wi-Fi. The cabin has a hot tub, a necessity in

both winter and summer to relax and unwind after long days of activities whilst

enjoying the sunsets or the stars and the beautiful surroundings of the cabin.

The bedroom has a comfortable, queen size bed that sleeps two persons and with the

guest bed, the cabin can accommodate three persons. The cabin is rented out with

made up beds, and with towels and bed linen included in the price and a baby bed is

available upon request.

SURROUNDINGS AND ACTIVITIES

The location of the cabin offers easy access, not only to the center of Akureyri but also

to the interesting sites in the surroundings. You can go on hiking tours, walk up the

mountain Sulur, one of the mountains above Akureyri, you can go on daily horse

riding tours or a midnight sun ride, visit naturally heated swimming pool, hire kayaks

or go on a diving course. There are a few golf courses in the nearby areas, offering 9-

18 holes in stunning surroundings. During winter you can go ski or do cross-country

skiing in the best ski resort in Iceland with outstanding views of Akureyri and the

Fjord. You can even go dog sledging with huskies, go snowshoe walking or fishing

through ice. Everyone should find something the interest them and of their liking.

It is also very popular to drive the road skirting the beautiful western shore of the

Eyjafjordur, visit the magnificent waterfalls, Goðafoss and Dettifoss or other

spectacular nature sites such as Dimmuborgir, Mývatn, the canyon of Jökulsárgljúfur

and go whale watching in Húsavík. It is also possible to take an organized day trip

from Akureyri to the island of Grimsey, which straddles the Arctic Circle.

Feel free to contact us if you want additional information about activities and

sightseeing in the surroundings of Akureyri. We are happy to help and give

recommendations regarding the area.
