Punta Umbria holidays

Punta Umbria, just north of the Costa de la Luz, was once a small fishing village jutting out into the Atlantic. It has developed into a heavenly resort that retains some of that small town charm. It’s also one of the most unusual and exciting resorts on the Andalucian coast. On one side of Punta Umbria, a broad, golden beach faces the bright blue sea. On the other, a wide river and natural salt marshes make this resort destination feel a little more wild.

Punta Umbria is smaller than many resort towns, and though it has an excellent selection of restaurants, a self-catering apartment could be good choice if you want another option in the evening.

Sun and surf

Wherever you stay, Playa de Punta Umbria is never more than a brief walk away. It’s a huge beach that stretches the full length of the town, from the very tip of the peninsula to the far north. You’ll never struggle to find space for the family.

Being on the Atlantic coast, Playa de Punta Umbria can be breezy, and that means excellent waves. There’s no need to worry about safety, though: Playa de Punta Umbria is a Blue Flag beach. That means it’s among the best in the world for safety and cleanliness—it’s watched constantly by lifeguards.

Escape into nature

A few steps out of town is the Parque Natural Enebrales de Punta Umbria, a dense, mixed forest of trees and junipers. It’s alive with wildlife, from native birds to lizard species, and it makes for a beautiful walk away from the bustle of Punta Umbria. When you get tired of the forest, there are numerous wooden walkways waiting to carry you down to the beach. There’s no better view in Punta Umbria.
