“Wonderful Location!” We have stayed several times in this unit and enjoyed just being able to walk across the street to the best beach on the island. Walk back and jump in the pool. Enjoyed the outdoor BBQ facilities. Well stocked apartment, clean and very comfortable. Love sitting on the lanai early morning and in the evening and taking in the ocean views. Easy to get to town as off the main street. Have fun!

“Just great” We enjoyed our 7 days here very much. So lively close to nature without closed windows and the outside shower made it to the paradies. Kathleen's help from booking to our leaving day was a great help. It is everything here what you need. Beachtowels and snorkeling facilities and a lot more. There is everything in the kitchen. “Great Location for a vacation” Nice quaint condo, although we were surprised by the size of the living room, it was still comfortable for our adult family of 6. Great convenient location to beach and main strip.

“7 Minutes to Kona airport and 1,000 Feet above the Coastal Heat” This is an good option for visitors who want to live like the locals in a neighborhood conveniently situated 7 minutes driving time from the Kona airport and 1,000 feet above sea level (cooler on hot days!). The hosts who live upstairs rent out their first floor "ohana" unit for a very reasonable rate. Inside the unit is a king bed, private marble bathroom and shower, fully equipped kitchen (including full size refrigerator plus gas stove) and a porch entrance. Since the owners migrated from northern California five years ago they have embraced the big island's history and culture and love to share it with visitors if desired. They have also placed an extensive library of books and videos (playable on the dvd/vhs player along with cable TV)in the ohana to help the visitors plan from the many options tourists can explore. Colorful birds and geckos visit the property daily to make breakfast on the patio overlooking the ocean a great way to start the day. This is not a "sanitized" hotel experience but rather an inexpensive way to set up a base from which to experience the island from a local's perspective using your rental car. Easy access to roads leading to island's top sites including coffee tasting & volcanic features.

“Paradise” My husband and I spent 10 days in Kona at the Surf and Racquet Club. It was fabulous. The condo unit was ground level so you could walk out and see the ocean a few feet away and listen to the waves crashing against the rocks all night. We BBQ'd, swam in the pool and watched tennis. We don't play tennis but there plenty of people that did. Also noticed that lessons were available. Great eating places within walking distance. Marina for rentals and of course a 10 minute walk to the snorkling beach. We will be back some day. We are actualy from West Kelowna. Spelling error.

“Great island decor and location!” Excellent, well maintained, second floor location with picture perfect golf view from the wrap around lanai, very spacious and great Island style decor! The owners have outdone themselves, couldn't have ask for more. Easy walk to the King and Queen shops, Marriott and Hilton for shopping, restaurants and groceries. The saline pool was the perfect temperature and we enjoyed it on many occasions. Owners were great to deal with and check-in easy with their lock-box system. Perfect place to spend a week with our daughter; would rent again in a minute!

“Took our breath away!!!” We were overwhelmed with this wonderful condo, the view and all that was available to us. The condo is not only beautifully furnished, but has everything you need for a trip to the beach, which is within walking distance. We snorkeled and saw turtles, rays, and all kinds of beautiful colored fish, right off the beach. The saline pool is stunning!! We were so comfortable it was hard to even go shopping, which, by the way, is also close, with every kind of shop you need. We had wonderful dinners and breakfasts on the lanai.....oooh, wish I was there again!! And, if we can we will get a hold of Sylvia and do it again. Thanks, Sylvia for providing everything we needed for a wonderful, unforgettable time. I would highly recommend this place and working with Sylvia to anyone.

“Kona Makai 3-203” My husband and I recently stayed at 3-203 in the Kona Makai and had a spectacular vacation. The grounds are immaculately kept, the location is superb and it's a very peaceful & tranquil environment. No loud neighbors, lights out earlier so you can get a great sleep. The room has everything you need to feel at home. We loved our stay and would definitely come back.

“My week in Kona Makai” This was a very good place to stay, not tofar from anything I did not rent a car so I did a lot of walking, the beaches and resterants were only a short 10 minute away. The only problem i had was when I first arrived and had a little trouble opening the door, there was a trick to it and after the first time there were not any more problems. All in all I had a very good time and I would strongly recomend this property to anyone.

“Great Value in this Condo” The location was great, the premises were kept in good condition, and the unit was in good shape and furnished well. My only complaint was with the lack of a wireless connection. Booking of things had be done inside away from the fabulous lanai. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone I know staying on the big island. The rates were great for going in February, and the management company was easy to deal with via email and their website.

“A Perfect Getaway from a Northern winter” This is our second visit to #5 and the fourth at the Surf and Racquet Club. This location is perfect for us being so close to the ocean and shops. It is just a 10 minute drive into Kona and a 10 minute walk to a fantastic snorkelling and surfing bay. The kitchen and bathrooms have been updated and there is a new large flat screen television in the lounge. We also appreciate the free WiFi internet and long distance telephone calling to Canada and the USa. We are coming here again next year.

“Family vacation” We enjoyed our stay in unit 2204, the wrap around lanai was wonderful and allowed for great air flow. The sunset views were terrific and it was a nightly event. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had almost anything you would need. There were also toys for the beach, which is very nice as everything in Hawaii is expensive. The bathrooms are a bit dated and could use some work, especially the showers. I am not a big fan of mold and I know it is a humid climate be we have stayed in quite a few other island rentals and have not ever had any mold in the bathrooms. Overall the unit was very nice and the complex was also a great. The pool area is nice and we also enjoyed our nightly bbq.

“Great Place to Stay” Morning coffee watching the dolphins, how relaxing! The fruit tray upon arrival was very nice, the kitchen was equipped with all we needed and everything you need for a day at the beach was available. Nick at Knutson's was very helpful with our arrangements. Hope we are able to use this condo again very soon.
