“Excellent Villa with one of the best views on the island” My wife and I booked this villa for our 'babymoon' - a nice, high spec location to get away from it all for 7 nights. We got exactly what we asked for with the villa being situated high on the side of a mountain but easily accessible by car (approx. 10 minutes to get from the villa to the major bypass outside of Nidri town). Evenings were absolutely quiet save the sounds of nature, complete peace for long sleeps.
The photos available speak for themselves so I shall say no more than they are true and accurate representations of the villa and its surroundings - no photoshop in sight. The view overlooking the bay outside of Gheni never got old, and we found ourselves choosing to spend our evenings swimming / having a BBQ on the large patio of the villa, heading down at night into Nidri as the mood took us.
The villa is on the east of the island, and whilst the best beaches such as Egremni are on the west, the drive around the south of the island (don't go north, not as pretty) was an absolute joy to drive - long, open winding mountain roads with the roof down and sun shining. Personally, I think it's better to be on the east as that's where the boats launch from (Nidri) and it has a better buzz although the south west of the island is pretty cool too. Anyway, that's for folks to decide for themselves but it worked for us.
Full disclosure - the first time you ascend the mountain road to the villa, it can be somewhat daunting if you've not had experience of such before. I didn't, but by the second day I was a pro and actually really started to enjoy the drive! Just don't rent / take a car any larger than a Suzuki Jimmy or you might run into some bother.
The villa itself was to a high standard of cleanliness, with the pool maintained regularly during our stay. Outdoor lighting was soft so as not to attract too many bugs at dinner, beautiful flowers and roses decorating the property. Shower facilities very good, wifi is solid and reliable (you won't be streaming movies, but fine for surfing and sending pics home).
The owner & contact on the island were both pleasures to liaise with, with no intrusion during our stay and very efficient checking in & out. The property has an 'honesty bar' which was very well stocked, and it's a simple request to replace what you take. Local amenities are 10m away at the bottom of the hill in Nidri, no bother. Recommend you hit up Carrfour either in Lefkadas or an express down south for higher value load-ups.
Anyway, we loved it and were very glad to be on our mountain away from it all, but only a short drive to the action when we wanted it. We'd both recommend it - just make sure you're ok with driving up a mountain (really it's no bother - just fair warning).
“A peaceful haven” Villa Rhapsody is very tastefully furnished, with lots of extras which you would expect in a good quality hotel. The second bedroom is a mezzanine so it is more suited to a family of four than 2 sets of adults. We travelled with out 2 daughters in their early 20's and they were very comfortable. It was very clean and the pool was a pleasant respite from the heat. We spent a lot of time outdoors but the lounge area was very pleasant. Villa Rhapsody is very near to the hustle and bustle of Platanias but once through the gates you wouldn't know. Can recommend Cosmos restaurant which you can see on the hill from the pool. Take a taxi as it is a long walk! The owner Yioulia was very pleasant and spoke excellent English. She was there if we needed her but not intrusive. The owners run a bar near the premises but we never heard it even though it was open until 5.00a.m. It opened at 10.00 but we never made it there! Lovely villa.
“Comfortable apartment , great views, welcoming hosts.” We stayed here for a week and had a lovely holiday.
Nikos and Yota were very helpful, even before arrival and were great at contact throughout our stay. The apartment is modern, well appointed and has beautiful views over the town and country from the terrace. Lovely to walk down to town through the old village. We hired a car and explored a lot.
“Home from Home” From the moment we arrived to the sad day of our departure we were made to feel very welcome. All the family are so friendly and Chester the dog is certainly a loveable character. The Villa is beautifully furnished both inside and out and the pool was a welcome relief from the Cretan sun. Being so near to all the towns facilities was great and once the gate is closed behind you you feel that you are really private and it is surprisingly quiet. The beach is just a very short walk with plenty of places to eat of have a drink. We would love to go back one day.
“Just great!” We spent three weeks at the Pinetree in September'13, and we fell in love with the place. In desperate need of relaxation, sun and sea, we found exactly what we were looking for. We stayed there, day after day, on our private balcony enjoying the views of the whole village and the sea, in our private courtyard sunbathing and reading. Enjoying the quietness and the summer breeze and having a glass of rose wine or a Greek coffee every now and then.
We also had a couple of great BQs in our garden. And breakfast in the balcony which combined with the setting was a perfect start into the day.
The rooms are just like at home with every comfort. Only two of us, so the space provide was more than enough great with a great sitting room and big modern kitchen table that gave us lots of space for reading/writing and surfing.
The handmade guides in the Treehouse take you to the places you would like to visit but if you talk to the very helpful owners (always there to help but still making sure your have your privacy), you will really know where to eat, what to visit, when to visit, what to look for, ... really useful information! They are local people and very polite. Lots of places to swim but don't forget to ask them if you want to visit the best.
We would definetely come back to enjoy such peaceful and relaxing days at the Treehouse of Ermioni again and again
