Stunning Property in a Beautiful Area
We've had a lovely time at this beautiful, well equipped, farmhouse. It's within easy reach of amazing Chateaux plus a wealth of picturesque villages containing their own unique cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and markets each week. Here's a few of our highlights:
Vallee du singes- An absolute must visit. Monkeys, monkeys and more monkeys, some of which will be hanging over your heads!
Parc de la belle - take a stroll round the beautiful gardens (with numerous tree-houses and cabins on the grounds) and enjoy some refreshments on the terrace (best to check opening times).
Civray - great market on a Tuesday. It has a few good cafes and a particularly nice restaurant on the river called Hotel du Commerce. This offers a great lunch between noon and 2pm
Verteuil-sur-Charente - stunningly pretty village and amazing Chateaux. Tours on Saturday and Sunday at 3 pm (only €6). Take your pick of cafe or restaurant with a Chateaux view.
Confolens- nice town. Lovely cafe west side of bridge on edge of the river and supermarket with all the supplies you'll need.
Ferme de Chassagne- great farmers market that starts at 4pm and has entertainment all evening. Take your own plates and cutlery. Plenty of cheese, pate, beer, wine etc to buy - they'll even cook any raw meat you buy! Check for dates.
Rochefoucauld - Some distance away, but if you're coming from Bordeaux, this is a lovely village for a break. Nice restaurants, bars and cafes and an impressive Chateaux too!
Poitiers - we visited the city on a (rare) rainy day. Amazing gardens and historic centre that has great places to see and eat and has fantastic shops. …
Holiday home Caro's with a private pool
A beautiful home
We had 12 nights at Karolina's beautiful home in Confolens. The house is fully equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. I travelled with my husband and 2 boys (18 and 16) and small dog and we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The pool was welcome relief from the heat and the WiFi was well used by the boys! The town itself is charming; we were there for Bastille Day when all the community come together to celebrate, with a massive firework display better than any we have ever seen. Although Karolina, a lovely lady, lives next door, we rarely saw her but new she was on hand should there have been any problems. I would not hesitate to return. …
Great value for money, definitely will return.
We stayed during half term and couldn't have asked for a more relaxing destination. After a long drive from the UK we were welcomed with great customer service. Our room was ready, very clean and completely met our needs. The breakfasts were great, eating homemade jams with fresh croissants and toast. This set us up well for exploring the local area. The room was set up well with modern en suite bathroom and free wi fi for keeping contact with home. The areas for guests have been thoughtfully furnished and provided ample room for what we needed. The grounds are large and also interesting to watch all the animals who share the grounds. Overall a great stay and we will definitely return as its such good value for money. …
Life as it should be, peace, quiet tranquillity, and all things needed.
Fantastic rejuvenating holiday, all six adults enjoyed as much, the quiet is audible and was my first remark on arrival.
The house is idyllic with plenty of space for all, two bathrooms and a separate toilet is perfect, the pool is super, and the log burner is a perfect end to each day.
Lyndsey the local contact is the best, thanks so much X
There is loads to do and see locally, beautiful places to visit, and very high quality attractions are within decent distances.
Aradour is a must, you will not leave the same person.
I have already recommended to my friends and will do again.
I will definitely be going back, memorable moments, complete relaxation, a truly wonderful time had by all from age 17 to 56,

Total peace and quiet
This Gite was perfect for us. Positioned behind the owners' house, surrounded by lush green countryside, wildlife everywhere, bats, buzzards, stag beetles. A pool alongside to jump into after a day touring the local sights, and even a bbq to cook those Limousin steaks.
Muriel and Frederick were always on hand for the slightest thing, ensuring we had the best time. Their dogs were happy to play fetching sticks on the lawn.
The Gite kitchen had everything a cook might need, hob, oven (to warm up those delicious chocolatines and croissants), toaster, and the all important cork screw!
Local village bakers a short drive away provided the read and pastries. In Saulgond, a little further, there are Lidl, Hiper U, and other supermarkets.
The bijou Gite had a fab shower with loads of hot water, a sofa bed, a television ( for weather reports, or just look out of the window!)
This was our first holiday in France, and we feel we made a great choice with Gite du Haut! …
