“Quiet relaxing beautiful cottage & countryside” We had a lovely stay and really unwound from normal life a warm welcome from the owners & their dogs. The cottage is beautifully furnished and is quiet and cosy the countryside is green & rolling with the canal not far away for a lovely stroll
“Comfortable and cosy” The cottage is pretty, roomy, and very comfortable in any weather. The May weather was rainy and cold, but the electric heaters worked very well to keep it comfortable (even without the wood burner). Access to the river was by a gate from the property, and is very peaceful. Getting to the property was easy enough using the information from the owners. The welcome food pack that Bryan left for us was great, and saved a trip to the market after driving from Mayenne. English freeview TV and wifi worked great. The separate play room was a nice addition and had ping pong, darts, and and other games.
Kerneatret le Petit - 2 bedroom cottage with direct access to the river Aulne
If you love walking, cycling or simply being outside in beautiful countryside, you couldn't ask for a better location!
Fabulous weather during our stay at the end of May meant we could enjoy everything this lovely gite has to offer right on its doorstep. With no near neighbours (there was no one in Le Grand, attached to Le Petit, during our stay) sitting amidst the fields bordering the River Aulne, the position was one of the most tranquil settings you could ask for. Just a few steps takes you to the banks of the River Aulne, a wide and slow flowing river with a fabulous cycle path running along side giving the most amazing views. A cycle ride of about 10 minutes takes you to the port of Chateau Neuf de Faou and a pizzeria, so very easy for an evening out.
The gite was exceptionally clean and tastefully furnished/decorated, everything worked and the beds were comfy! The owner was very communicative via email and I felt confident in my booking at every stage.
The welcome pack was generous and included essentials such as milk, bread, butter, jam and juice and a very welcome bottle of red wine - much appreciated at the end of a long journey!
If you're looking for somewhere to truly feel away from the madness of everyday life, I don't think you could go far wrong staying here!
The stairs are open tread bare wood and are quite steep. As such, I don't think I'd recommend this gite to someone with with mobility issues. …
Idyllic Riverside Cottage in Brittany, France
Fantastic base to explore Brittany
We loved staying here, the house is very well equipped and the kids loved the games room.
Great position next to the canal and we enjoyed spotting bats at dusk. …
Ker Herve Gite
Relaxing rural retreat!
The gite was amazing. We were looking for something with some character in a quiet rural location and we had exactly that but with all the mod cons too. The view from the Juliet balcony in the lovely bedroom was amazing to wake up to each morning.
Lizzie and Graham made us extremely welcome on their farm, as did their two lovely dogs Harry and Clover.
There are plenty of places to visit each day and we really enjoyed the quiet roads! Just beware of shop opening hours for getting supplies, it seems the French have their work/life balance just right!
A perfect holiday for our first wedding anniversary. …
A beautiful and peaceful rural setting.
We found the experience of booking very easy and straightforward and the owner to be very helpful and informative in her dealings with us. The property itself was exactly as described and perfect for a family with young children. The house was clean, modern and had everything we needed for our stay and more. The garden was huge - fantastic for the kids - and such a peaceful setting for a relaxing break. It was great being able to eat our meals out on the patio and play games of cricket with the kids on the lawn. We visited the beach at Benodet, which was a lovely family beach only about half an hour away. We found getting shopping to be very easy as there was a small shop selling basics plus baguettes and croissants only a few minutes walk, and a great supermarket only 5 minutes drive away. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone with a family. …
Beautiful French barn set in fantastic countryside
Beautiful gîte in quiet location
We stayed at Liz & Graham's beautifully renovated horse stable for 3 nights on our return from the south of France to Roscoff, and our only regret is that we didn't spend more time here.
Our hosts were always close by to advise on places to visit and things to do in the area, and it is a working farm so it was nice to see the horses being walked out. Not forgetting the two lovely dogs Harry & Bluebell who called to say hello from time to time.
The gîte is spacious, clean and well equipped and perfect for a couple who want to explore the Finistère region of Brittany. …
