“Where Eagles Soar and you make friends for life!” We had the pleasure of visiting Cape Breton last summer and staying at the Old Miller Trout Farm Guest House in Margaree Forks. Upon arriving we were welcomed by a bald Eagle (George) soaring into the trees near the trout pond. Our hosts Pat and John had left us a loaf of fresh bread and Jam with tea in the kitchen. The Guest House is very clean and roomy. It has everything you need. Pat and John were friendly and very helpful during our stay, pointing us in the right direction; whether we were looking for antiques or beaches in the area. The Guest House was very private and well laid out with a full kitchen, bath, living area & two bedrooms upstairs. John and Pat run a trout farm, where if you wish you can try your luck in the big pond; or if all else fails the little one. The location and surrounding area are beautiful. Inverness Beach is spectacular and has the absolute best burgers at the Beach Shack. The Big Intervale Fishing Lodge Restaurant is well worth the drive. It is a bit off the beaten track but not far from the Guest House and the Cabot Trail in N.E. Margaree. Along the way stop in and enjoy shopping at Kingcross Quilts. Dinner and drinks along with free entertainment in Mabou at the Red Shoe Pub is also a must to see. All in all a very restful, pleasant and laid back stay, close to all amenities; there's even a co-op grocery store 5 minutes down the road to do your shopping! Old Miller Trout Farm Guest House, we highly recommend it!
