“Enhanced our stay in Kyoto, the perfect blend of old and new” We had a fabulous stay at this amazing property, which has a lot of space (for Japan) for a family of 5 including a small garden and a tiny roof deck. It made us all feel much more like we were having a Japanese "experience" than would any hotel, and gave us enough room to spread out when we needed space from each other. The property is immaculately presented, with beautiful art and extras to enhance the experience further, plenty of books about Japan and a fully equipped modern kitchen, a washer/dryer - staying for a week it gave us an opportunity to wash, cook and feel much more at "home". Whilst the autumn weather meant that we did not require much in the way of heating, there are air-conditioners in every room, a lovely deep bath and two toilets (we loved the warm seats :-) certainly a novelty for us). The key pad for entry meant that we didn't have to worry out what time we arrived, or looking after and returning keys, and Reiko was more than happy to help us with any questions we had, and helped us to organise the transfer of our luggage. The location in Gion is perfect for tourists - it is walkable to many attractions, and about a 20 minute bus ride to the station. There is a supermarket just steps away, and many places to eat (in and take-away) within a block. It is an neighbourhood with little tourists around, yet so close to everything. All was exactly as described, and the space was perfect for the 5 of us - it would be great for couples who could share the cost, as it is quite expensive. We highly recommend this property

“As comfortable as you will get in Tagaytay” You are considering an apartment with a terrific view and a well-intentioned and enthusiastic owner who wants her guests to be happy. The apartment is cozy as well as functional. You will have the basic necessities for cooking and for re-heating, a dry-look bathroom (the hot shower is isolated from the rest of the room) and five hundred movies to watch when you are touristed out. The owner followed through on all of my suggestions and requests. Nevertheless, you will be unhappy unless you adjust to reality of life in the Philippines. Things are rarely perfect. Most of the following shortcomings are universal unless you check into a five star hotel or resort: • The view is over the main road, so expect noise from the road (poorly tuned and muffled tricycles= motorbikes and jeepneys) • No black-out blinds (yet), so there will light in the bed room from 6:30 AM • Internet: Facebook works, email works sporadically on my iPad but not on other devices, I was able to browse for about two or three minutes at 5:30 in the morning. Not a connection you can use professionally. On the other hand, Global seems to work fine. Sheila, have Eric talk to Angelita about that. She brought different kind of portable wifi that performed much better. • There is no gym, but there is a jogging track (a track and field oval), badminton courts, indoor and outdoor pools, and some pool tables in the club house. You have to pay 150 pesos per use per person. I did my exercise in the huge field at the door of the residence, and saw one fellow practice his putting there. • Tagaytay has a traffic jam all day long during the holidays and during peak periods on other days, so expect to breathe fumes for 20-30 minutes every time you use public transport towards the center of town. Solution: don’t go into the town centre. • The caretaker won’t volunteer information, so have a list of questions for her. For example, you should be told of that the entrance is at level B2 so that you know which floor to press the first time you take elevator alone. You also need to know that Tower 3 next door gives you direct access to the other side of the Wind Residences where all restaurants and the 7-Eleven are located, and know the elevator routine for using it (ask the receptionist in Tower 3). Sheila will probably make changes where she can, but she cannot change attitudes and the infrastructure of the Philippines, so we guests need to have realistic expectations to really enjoy our stay.Â
