Matsu Sho An. An authentic and luxurious 120-year old restored machiya in Kyoto
Mat so ahn, Kyoto
We stayed in this amazing traditional Japanese house in Kyoto which was beautiful. Surrounded by a fabulous garden and in the perfect location for pottering around all the local antique shops north of the city hall. We were welcomed by the lovely housekeeper Roxana and there is the most delicious tea and cake shop right next door. It was expensive but well worth every penny! …
The Moon Room (Downtown Kyoto)
Great apartment, in a lovely part of Kyoto.
We really enjoyed the weekend we spent at the Moon Room. The apartment which was on the ground floor, was warm, with very comfortable beds, a small kitchen (idea for making tea and toast) and a great shower.
The apartment is in a lovely part of Kyoto, very close to the subway in a quiet street with plenty of good restaurants to chose from, which Sean the owner had listed in a well prepared travel folder. If we ever return to Japan, staying at the Moon Room would be top of our list - but next time we will stay for a week. There is so much to see and do in Kyoto.
Sean the owner was delightful and could not have been more accommodating. As he had no guests arriving on the day we were departing Sean told us we were under no pressure to check out at the agreed time. This gave us another morning of sightseeing in Kyoto before moving on to Tokyo in the afternoon. Our stay was a great experience. Thank you. …

top notch modern accomodation
Well-designed contemporary style; high quality of beds; clean, every supplies/ things in place; excellent locations to skiing, onsen, foodie trips. Especially, we love the open design/ the whole glass wall on the second floor, making the space light filled for a whole day. of course, the wonderful view as well.
We shared this house with another friend and her family, and will definitely be back sometimes next year. The host always responded our questions within 2 hours. …
Up market condominium near to Gion
Hiroshi's apartment is the perfect place to stay at, if you are visiting Kyoto. He is a really nice and funny host. Instructions on how to get there were really clear and it was easy to get to. The apartment is located next to Westin Miyako hotel and is walking distance from the Keage subway. It is also near the Higashiyama subway as well. From the apartment, we could visit a number of attractions by foot - Yasaka shrine, Chion-in, Nanzen-ji, Gion etc. It is also near a number of good eateries! His apartment was soo neat and cozy and it had everything we needed. He also had 2 bicycles which we really really enjoyed using. Staying at Hiroshi's apartment was very convenient and i dont think we could get a better stay at a better location. For us, it was the best accommodation we stayed at, while visiting Japan. Thank you Hiroshi! :) …
Shinjuku flat/ 5 min from Sta./14ppl
Very nice flat! Clean, convenient and easy to get to. I would recommend it to those who are visiting Tokyo. The location is about 5 min from a tube stop on the Oedo line, with direct access to Roppongi and Yoyogi or Shinjuku. If you need to change to the Yamanote JR line, Yoyogi is simple and easy, much better than Shinjuku which is really complicated. …
