Experience the best of France- a classic country home
Beautiful French Manor House in the heart of the Pyrenees.
Spent two weeks here with another family. Efficient booking process and Dominique there to greet us when we arrived. Very comfortable house, beautifully furnished and well equipped, children loved the pool, lovely views of the mountains, quiet village location. Quite hilly for the children to cycle back up to the house but great flat cycle route along La Vallee des Gaves from Argeles to Lourdes. Can recommend the pony treks with the riding school in Salles, we rode right past the house. Super walk to the Lac de Gaube from the Pont d'Espagne. We ordered our baguettes and croissants each morning from the visiting van from la boulangerie! …
Holiday gite near Argeles-Gazost - Happy Pyrenees
Very comfortable stay in a convenient and scenic location
We stayed at the Volets Verts while on a cycling holiday in France and were very happy with our choice of accommodation. Despite my reservations about sending money internationally before I see a property this process turned out to be quite simple and I had nothing to worry about, the accommodation was as advertised and very well kept.
On our arrival Tracey and Tim met us and were extremely hospitable and helpful answering questions about the local area and providing thorough information on nearby services and food. They included local tourism information collected from various businesses but also had excellent local knowledge. Tim was particularly helpful answering questions about the various mountain peaks in the area which is what we needed.
The property had a large living area (incl. full kitchen & separate laundry) on the ground level and a second level with 2 well sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one ensuite). Everything was well looked after, clean and tidy with a nice balance of new (e.g. kitchen) and homely (e.g. bedrooms).
The location is quite close to some famous and spectacular cycling peaks such as the Hautacam (it's actually on the road where this climb begins), the Col du Tourmalet, the Col du Soulor & Col D'Aubisque and many others. The nearby town is within walking distance (10mins?) and is worth exploring, but I'd also recommend looking at the surrounding towns which are all unique.
Tracey and TIm were very obliging with any questions we had and were genuinely lovely.
I would certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting something simple at a good price in a spectacular area of the world. …
THE SMALL HOUSE 8 P WIFI CABALIROS QUIET COMFORT
A fairly central location for visits to Cauterets, Gavarnie, Tourmalet. As with anywhere in Pyrenees a certain amount of driving is required.
More use could have been made of the garden if the lawn had been cut. …
