La Braudière was built in the 19th century, to operate the barrier over the railway line. Nowadays, the railway is just a distant memory, leaving a legacy of miles of leafy, tree lined paths, meandering through woods and open countryside.
This sturdy stone house, with its sky blue shutters, thick stone walls and buttery yellow exterior, has been thoughtfully renovated, with lots of original features – a successful blend of original character and modern comfort. It is simply and tastefully furnished, and the overall effect is bright, light and fresh.
NOTE THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY NO WI-FI AT THE PROPERTY
Set on its own, the house is surrounded by fields, tracks, rivers and woodlands, perfect for exploring by foot or bike (bring your bikes, if you can). You're not too far from civilisation, however, as only 2 kms away is the village of La Trimouille, where you will find well stocked grocery shop, cafes, pharmacy and cinema.
Located in the department of the Vienne, with its peaceful countryside, ancient castles and medieval towns and villages, La Braudière provides a brilliant base for a great holiday. Enjoy the local amenities. Settle into the slower pace of French life with a leisurely amble through the lanes, rich with wildlife. Explore the many tourist attractions of the area. Or simply sit in the garden, with a glass of wine, enjoying the spectacular night skies. Whatever you enjoy, there is something for everyone.
