Tucked away along a country road between Siena and Volterra sits Podere Timignano, a wonderfully characteristic farmhouse perched on a hill and surrounded by 7 hectares of fields, woodland and panoramic views.
The house has been restored with great care over the years using many ancient stone works from churches and ruins.
An oval swimming pool (10 x 6.5 m), paved with local stone, is hidden at the end of a wooded path behind the house.

Timignano is mainly powered by photovoltaic and thermal solar panels, keeping its environmental impact to a minimum.

A two-bedroom self-contained apartment fills one part of the main house. It has a separate entrance, outdoor shaded seating area and a private roof terrace for enjoying spectacular sunsets.
There is a modern and well-equipped kitchen/living room with sitting area and dining table, a spacious double bedroom, a smaller bedroom with twin beds ( can be turned into double bed on request ) and a bathroom with shower.
Fabio and Sarah, olive oil and wine producers, live in the rest of the house with their 2 children. They will be delighted to welcome you on your arrival at Timignano and help out if necessary.

Timignano and its surroundings have something to offer for everyone, and for this reason it makes is an ideal holiday base for families with young or older children, couples or a group of friends.

This is a perfect place for relaxing - on the private terrace, in the shaded garden area or by the pool. There are several paths leading directly from Timignano for country walks. The medieval villages scattered around the surrounding hills offer fantastic views, cobbled streets and alley ways, beautiful old churches, a taste of local life and good restaurants. There are 2 restaurants within 5 minutes from Timignano.

The extensive forests to the west beyond the river Cecina are part of one of Tuscany's largest protected areas, stretching as far as the coast. Its numerous marked paths provide endless possibilities for hiking and cycling - as well as wildlife spotting.

    Thank you for your comments and stream of criticism! You didn’t mention ANY of these issues during your stay!! We are very sorry that Timignano was not the right place for you but we feel it is wrong to make a personal and damaging attack on us just because you chose the wrong place for your needs (an elderly American couple seeking urban modern comforts yet in a rural environment somehow next to a well-lit highway!). Of course the underlying charm, beauty and appeal of a 17th century Tuscan farmhouse set in a magnificent rural setting away from it all will be lost on you. Yes, we are off the beaten track - but just 25 minutes of beautiful rolling countryside from the motorway. The last 1.5km of road is indeed a gravel road that requires extra care. I have scoured the rooms for traces of mould and dampness and have found none. The apartment will certainly be dark if you leave the curtains drawn all day as you did, and airless if the windows are unopened for your 30 day stay. Where is the broken sofa??! A major bonus of our living on site is that we can respond to problems if and when they arise – as long as we are notified. Nobody can tolerate mice and we would have taken appropriate measures immediately. We have since eliminated any risk of entry. We dedicate our lives to the place, our home after all, and to the comfort and well-being of our guests. For this reason we take all comments, criticism and (thankfully many!) compliments seriously and respond as best we can to all of them. In your case it was your choice of accomodation that was wrong, not the accomodation itself. Sadly it wasn’t the magical place for you that hundreds of guests have all appreciated and enjoyed so much.
