Chalet Gretl has private off street parking, 3 balconies, sun terrace and garden.
Chalet Gretl was bought by a family who got tired of the typical high prices & low standards of holiday hotels, chalets and apartments.
We are all keen skiers (downhill and cross-country), road and mountain bikers, runners, skaters and walkers. Any details you require regarding your particular activity, ski conditions etc we will do our best to provide.
Our live in Chalet Host will welcome you to the chalet, look after you throughout your stay and provide you with local information.
Our aim is to make your holiday as comfortable, pleasurable and easy as possible, allowing you to just relax and enjoy yourselves, knowing that at the end of a tough day on the slopes, (or golf course or bike trails etc), you are coming back to your own luxury chalet.
We love it here and I'm sure you will too.
The Salzburg Region
For those of you who have only ever skied or holidayed in France, Austria will be a revelation.
Zell am See/Kaprun is a paradise for skiers and boarders of all ages, sizes and abilities, with 132 km of downhill runs on the 'Schmittenhohe' at Zell & the 'Kitzsteinhorn' glacier at nearby Kaprun.
For the more experienced skier there are over 40km of black runs, while for the less daring there are easy blues and a mix of easy & more challenging reds to help build your skills.
Boarders are spoilt for choice with huge, wide slopes, loads of off-piste opportunities, natural halfpipes and the new 30000m2 'Snowpark'. Cross Country fans also have over 200km of trails available including a 5km night trail.
And if you tire of all this, there are over 15 other ski resorts within just 30km of the Chalet.
However, the best thing about being here is the sheer beauty and character of the place. Traditional Austrian towns and villages are a delight in winter or summer, the scenery is just stunning and the people are great.
You'll be spoilt for choice in this beautiful location.
Zell am See
The Chalet is located in a quiet cul-de-sac in Schuttdorf, the residential suburb of Zell am See and the site of the main ski lifts for the Zell area. The lifts are just 800m from the chalet and we offer inclusive transport to the lifts in our own private vehicle.
The skiing is great, with something for all abilities at the local slopes and at nearby Kaprun where you can ski on the glacier all year round!. Plus within 30km of Chalet Gretl are a further 15 ski resorts.
A 5 minute walk from the chalet are the local facilities of Schuttdorf including- shops, restaurants, pubs, banks etc; in addition to the cross-country skiing, walking, roller skating and bike trails, and the lake with sailing, swimming, windsurfing and parascending.
The golf club is a 5 minute drive as is the town of Zell with its many shops, restaurants, bars, ice rink, swimming pool and other facilities.
There are some superb walks, many of which are on the well kept trails in the valley and around the lake.

"Friendly, warm, clean and comfortable - and great skiing."
Firstly, all my dealings with the owner were friendly and prompt. He was happy to answer all questions (no matter how small!) The house is as described, plenty of room, clean, modern and very comfortable. The two guys who looked after us were very helpful, in regard to ... well ... just about everything. Between them they have plenty of local knowledge about skiing, partying and everything inbetween. We really got the feeling that they were looking after us. The food was plentiful and homecooked - just what you need when coming back from a day in the snow. We were a mixed bunch, aged from 3 to 70 and Zell and the surrounding areas kept us all busy for a week, with plenty to come back for. I would recommend this rental without hesitation.
