The Old Chapel Schoolhouse is a tastefully renovated character property based in the heart of the Pennines providing quality short term and holiday lets. The accommodation includes entrance lobby, dining kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms both with mezzanine floors, bathroom, utility room and secure bike store. Lovingly restored (completed 2013), the Old Chapel Schoolhouse is a cottage full of character, and seamlessly combines many original features, such as exposed stone fireplaces, stone flagged floor, waxed floorboards, traditional old beams and antique furniture meshed with contemporary fixtures and fittings. This Todmorden cottage has a delightful sitting room with a warm and cosy gas stove and a large diner kitchen with original Yorkshire stone flooring, making these rooms an ideal place to eat and relax after a hard day's walking. The double and twin bedrooms enjoy wonderful views across the valley and out to the surrounding moorland. The property is in a slightly elevated, south facing position enjoying wonderful views yet located within 10 minutes walk from Todmorden town centre, nestled in the Upper Calder Valley, ideally suited to explore the best of both Yorkshire and Lancashire. A fantastic retreat and base for walking, cycling, golfing, horse riding or just relaxing!
The town of Todmorden, home to 'Incredible Edible' and the 'Lucky Dog' was also recently featured in BBC 1's 'Countryfile' and offers a thriving indoor and outdoor market, shops, pubs and cafes. Enjoy walks from the doorstep across the Bronte's beloved Moors, visit the village of Heptonstall with its two historic pubs, or explore the home of the Bronte sisters in nearby Haworth. There are many fantastic walks, cycle routes and horse rides close to this Todmorden cottage, from a walk to the impressive Stoodley Pike, built to commemorate the end of the Napoleonic Wars, or a gentle amble to Orchan Rocks, Whirlaw Rocks, Bride Stones, Britain's highest beach Gaddings Dam (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2368431/Uk-heatwave-sees-sunseekers-flock-Britains-highest-beach-dam-780ft-sea-level.html) or along the canal towpath to the town of Hebden Bridge which is five miles away and boasts interesting nightlife, curiosity shops, a milkbar and the 'old cinema' where they serve tea and scones at the interval! We used this accomodation for a weekend stay whilst visiting family in Yorkshire. The accomodation was perfect for us. We have 2 young children and the owners also provided the facilities we needed for the children plus some toys as well, which was a very nice touch. The owner was really helpful and we will be looking to use this accomodation again when we next visit family. Very highly recommended.

"Clean, homely cottage decorated to a high standard"
Helpful and welcoming correspondence from owner when arranging stay. Greeted by owner upon arrival and shown around property and given clear instructions about the property (alarm, heating etc.) as well as information about locality.
Very affordable/excellent value for money.
House in good location with parking outside front door.
Nice view from house.
Within walking distance to local amenities and wonderful town - with fantastic places to walk and explore.
House very comfortable, tastefully decorated and maintained to a very high standard.

"Great cottage and great friendly owners and neighbours"
The cottage is charming. Newly renovated, reasonably close to town it is a lovely base for exploring the district. Try the walk to the Pike, ave a coffee at Te Bear and check out the Incredible Edible guerrilla gardening !
