About this location
The Basse-Normandie region
Basse Normandie is steeped in history. From the Bayeux Tapestry to the D-Day Landings, there still exists some wonderful pieces of architecture and Chateaux to visit. The land is picturesque once you get a few Kilometers inland from the ports. It is not long before you feel fully immersed into the French culture. It is not essential to travel much further South in France to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and lovely weather, Normandy has it all.
For families, Normandy can now provide plenty of activities, including horse-riding, cycling, watersports, climbing, activity centres, natural park areas, zoos and so much more.
Orne is the horse-riding centre of Normandy. If you love horses and want to try out a riding school, this is the place!
The locals are welcoming and often helpful. The 'Vins' are good and not expensive and the 'Fromages' are bountiful and tasty and definitely worth a try. This particular area of Normandy has several Natural park areas providing an optimal environment to view rare species of birds and other fauna. It is also especially good for families with lovely camping areas and plenty of family activities for children of all ages. Visit Beauchene in Winter to see it in all its glory, beautifully lit at night. There are plenty of public fishing rivers and streams for some tranquility. Go to Larchamp and hire a pedalo or picnic by the river, take a pony trek with the family to see the diverse nature trails or simply stroll through the local markets and towns and pick up some local fayre.

"Great value coupled with excellent service made it a very lovely break."
We had a lovely break away in a very quiet location. The gite was a perfect size for the two of us, included all homely necessities and was run by a very nice & helpful couple who immediately made us feel very welcome, therefore our stay was thoroughly enjoyable.
