Southwold is situated on The East Suffolk Heritage Coast, and is part of East Anglia. Both have preserved much of their unspoilt character, rural landscape and traditions.
The terrain in the region is quite flat, and renowned for the quality of light, hence being a popular area for artists.

The coastal town of Southwold lies in an area designated as being of outstanding natural beauty. The town is famous for it's 'old world charm and style', it's beach, busy harbour, cliff top cannons, Lighthouse, award winning Pier, Parish Church (considered to be one of the finest of it's kind ) and is the home of Adnams Brewery.
There is a renowned Summer Theatre, The Electric Picture Palace Cinema, a busy harbour 'Coastal Voyager' boat trips and The RSPB Bird Santuary at Minsmere. The fish and chip shop-2 mins walk, the beach with it's famous beach huts, fine dining ( with the renowned hotels 'The Swan ' and 'The Crown '), tea shops, boutique style shops, Electric Cinema, lots of pubs ( Southwold is the home of Adnams ) are all just a 10 minutes walk!
The award winning Southwold Pier is just 15 mins away. So, you could leave the car in the garage or drive out to visit the cultural Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings, Thorpeness, Orford with Walberswick ( 25 mins walk from the cottage or there is a ferry ) just short drives away...
Further to the South is the famous market town of Saxmundham, Aldeburgh ( home to the Aldeburgh Music Festival ), along with a range of concerts held at The Snape Maltings Complex. Golf, sailing, fishing nearby, with popular coastal walks to Walberswick, Westleton and Dunwich. Southwold hosts the 'Latitude Festival ' and is a popular destination all year round.

"Wonderful stay at Loom Cottage"
My wife and I and our labradoodle puppy stayed in the most glorious July week in Loom Cottage. The cottage was clean and ready for us on arrival with many nice touches, like washing up liquid, salt an… More
Thanks so much for this review, so glad you all enjoyed yourselves! It's great that The Black Olive Deli(on The High Street) & The Smokehouse (near the harbour) get a mention, as they are really good additions to Southwold. The Adnams Shop also stocks a great selection of beers/ales to wash down all the yummy food! I'm hoping to see you again sometime, and thank you for the lovely comments, it is fantastic to hear that you had a wonderful stay, and I'm really happy the sun stayed out! Hoorah!

"Peter, Janet and Brook (the dog!)"
We wanted to say thank you to Kerry for a wonderful few days here. The cottage is delightful and so welcoming when you walk through the door. Despite the February weather being cold and windy, we were… More
I had the pleasure of meeting Peter, Janet and Brook and I'm so glad they enjoyed their stay. I am very pleased that the communication/booking process got a mention as I do like to provide an efficient service! We really want people to feel at home and enjoy their holiday, and it makes my day to receive such positive feedback. Brook was very well behaved and didn't seem too bothered about the weather, he still got lots of walkies! It's fantastic to get such a great review, and I would be delighted to welcome these lovely people (and of course, Brook) again! I do agree about 'The Nelson' it's really popular and very traditional.

It's lovely to receive a review like this, it does highlight the convenience of the location really well! It's also great that the cleanliness was mentioned, as often these points go unmentioned unless it's a negative! I'll pass it on to the housekeeper, she will be pleased her good work is noticed! Downstairs bathroom cannot be helped I'm afraid but on the other hand, it saves going upstairs during the day! I must say We are so lucky to get such lovely, appreciative guests...so thank you all for the kind words! If I win the lottery I promise I will install an 'en suite' upstairs!

"Quiet yet convenient. Very comfortable."
Situated just off the High Street in a tucked away position, this compact cottage is well appointed. Room sizes are on the small side, especially the kitchen but overall will meet the needs of most. There were four of us and three dogs and we managed!
Thanks very much for this review, and for the 'well appointed' comment, I'm also very pleased you found the cottage very comfortable. Yes, kitchen is quite small but nobody has ever passed comment before so(as you stated) it can't be too much of a problem!. It's rather like myself, small but perfectly formed (joke)! I do think all the other rooms are a fair size, and of good proportions, certainly Loom Cottage compares well with other 2 bed cottages we've stayed in/looked at/ for general space/regular features etc. It must have been cosy with 4 adults and 3 dogs! I'm really glad you all enjoyed yourselves and I hope you visit us again! As a matter of interest not so long ago ( about 20 years) a family of nine(yes, nine!) lived in Loom Cottage... now that must have been a challenge!

"Cosy, cosy, cosy"
Absolutely perfect location, just off the common and High Street, 3 mins to the fish and chip shop, beach not only 10 mins. This meant that we had the best of both worlds, complete peace and silence at night and yet right in the centre of town. Really useful to have parking as well! Cottage really comfortable, we all liked the furnishings, it looked like somewhere you could actually live, and there was obviously a lot of thought put into the decor. I thought the cottage was very good value considering the quality, and we loved sitting outside and watching the world go by, it was all so relaxing. The information guide was really useful, we went to The Swan ( the bar) for Sunday roast ( ask for roast beef if you like it even if it's not on the menu ) and had a cracking meal, a bit pricey but worth it....absolutely delicious! Can't wait to go again, next time for a week.....booking was really easy as well, all very efficient!
Thank you for these kind words, I do agree with the heading! It is really cosy. The beach is less than 10 mins walk, and it is in a great location. I love the fish and chips, lovely crispy batter and proper chips..yum, yum! We do try to keep the cottage in good order, downstairs was decorated this year and next year (hopefully) we'll do upstairs. We love sitting outside at the front watching the world go by, just generally relaxing! Hopefully we'll see you again soon, almost all of our visitors come back!
