The Loire Valley region
The Loire Valley is also known as the garden of France. It is extremely rich in its architectural heritage, and has many historic towns to visit. It is particularly famous for its castles, such as the castle of Amboise, the castle de Chambord and many more.
Saumur is a historic town which is located in between 2 rivers, the Loire and Thouet river. The 2 rivers join to the west of Saumur to form one. Saumur is well known for its National School of Horsemanship, which hosts the annual horse shows.
The tank museum, due to the Armoured Branch and Cavalry Training School nearby, hosts over 850 armored vehicles!
Saumur was also the site of a battle during World War 2.
