The Basse-Normandie region
Normandy name comes from the "North men" (vikings) who came here then reach Paris through the Seine river, just ending here, between Honfleur and Le Havre, the other side, which can be reached since the 90's through the majestic Normandy bridge.
Saint Leonard's Quarter
The village of Honfleur, one of the most beautiful in France, has a long history of wars (the english troops were there during the 100y war in middle age) and arts (Monet, Whistler, Boudin for painting, Erik Satie for music...) and luckily has been preserved from the 2d world war bombings, contrary to many other cities in Normandy, including Le Havre and Caen, totally destroyed.
Contrary to Sainte Catherine's quarter, very busy at all times, Saint Leonard has kept a very quite pace, while being of high history (the church has been built by the English... and is finally being renovated in 2010... last two attempts being 1914 and 1939... no worries hopefully for 2010 !). Its ideal location (very central while quiet) has recently attracted trendy restaurants ("l'endroit") or shops (rue Cachin, look at the beautiful new florist shop !).
NEW ! The Honfleur beach, called "Le Butin", has just obtained the famous "blue pavillon" for its quality and cleanness.
NEW ! Take benefit from the recent installation of a young and talented osteopathist on the ground floor of the building: Nolwenn Malet.

"Great location, clean and spacious"
We had a very relaxing stay at St Leonard's Place. The accommodation was clean and the second bathroom a bonus. We had a car but chose to walked most of the time because of the central location. The stairs are quite steep but okay once you don't rush. There is a very good Osteopath in the building on the ground floor - she really helped me with a back problem I had.

"Perfect Apartment in a Wonderful Town"
Location is perfect, 5 minute walk to the harbor and all the restaurants and shops. The apartment is perfectly clean and well maintained, the 2 bedrooms are completely private. It is perfectly set up for a family of 4. Yes, the stairs are steep but you only have to carry your luggage twice. All the amenities were working well and the WiFi reception was superb. Booking, money transfers and refunds were prompt and exact with paperwork supplied for each transaction. Sophie was there to show us around. There is a list of restaurants to visit (we loved Le Breard, could not make reservations for Sa-Qua-Na (call way in advance.) Don't forget to visit the flea market (first Sunday of the month.) We parked by the church every night (it has fairly high turnover, you will get a spot after about 5 minutes of waiting.) Book with confidence, you will enjoy your time in Honfleur and your stay at Artintime. Thank you, Didier

"Cozy Apartment with Artistic and Historic Atmosphere"
We were two retired couples spending three nights in Honfleur after our cruise ship landed us in Le Havre. We rented a car and drove here. Fair to say it was not straightforward to find this apartment when we were driving a car with somewhat inaccurate GPS. A more detailed and enlarged map would have helped. Parking was also hard the first time, because of concern for parking violation in the narrow streets. Subsequently, parking at the nearby Church's parking lot or parking at the public parking lot uphill behind the Carrefour market solved our problem. Most of the time around Honfleur, walking is preferred anyway. We did drive out to Trouville-sur-mer to visit the fish market and enjoyed oysters and shrimps in the food stands there. We also drove and visited the Normandy memorial places. The apartment is centrally located in Honfleur and there are many nice restaurants and boulangeries nearby. As we did not have a mobile phone, we could only set a definite time of 3pm to check into the apartment with Sophie, the apartment manager. Traffic and looking for the place delayed us till 3:30 pm but Sophie patiently waited for us in the apartment. She went through all the details about the apartment with us and recommended a favorite restaurant of hers. Sophie was extremely helpful. Her English is very good. We enjoyed staying in this lovely apartment and made it our home. The wifi worked well, as did the TV. We used the kitchen to boil water and some food. We enjoyed having salad and the bread and baguette available in the area. We brought back some shrimps, mussels and bulots from Trouville-sur-mer and had a wonderful feast one night. It is true that bringing up heavy luggages to the third floor level can be hard work. Doing it with two persons, one above and one below, made it easier. But, we needed to exercise anyway on vacation. Taking them downstairs was a lot easier, again with two persons. We appreciated the good taste of the owners in the decoration and the paintings hanging on the walls. The black, grey and white color scheme is also one that we personally prefer. This is why we felt right at home in this lovely and quaint apartment. The attic, where we slept, was also quite tastefully decorated. I did have to watch my head going into the bathroom there, else a light bump would wake me up in the morning. Overall, we enjoyed very much our stay here and would recommend it to our friends and others.

"Artintime and Honfleur! Parfait!"
My wife, son and I stayed at Artintime and had a wonderful time! Didier and Sophie were both wonderful to work with and very helpful. The apartment is well appointed and my son enjoyed the loft bedroom. The apartment is on a quiet street just a short walk to the bayside cafes. Just dowwnstairs is an excellent butcher and the bakery and other shops are just a short pleasant walk down the street. The kitchen at Artintime is well equipped and we took advantage to prepare some of our own meals. Great to have the wifi, television, dishwasher and washer and dyer. They all came in handy. I would recommend this apartment and town to anyone who truly wants to get away and relax. Joe Zahner

"Everything you need and so central; highly recommended"
We stayed at Artintime for a few days for my partner's birthday. From the start, communication with Didier was excellent. On arrival, we were very happy to find that the apartment was exactly as we expected (so often the photos fail to match the reality). We were very lucky and got a parking space outside the church and did not move the car for the next 3 days! The apartment is a couple of minutes walk from the centre of the action, on a quiet street. The location could not have been better. The apartment itself was well equipped and tastefully decorated, having 2 bathrooms (one with a shower and one with a bath) was a huge bonus and made the apartment feel much bigger than it actually is. There was only 2 of us, but you could easily stay with friends and have your own privacy. All in all, I would suggest anyone looking to take a holiday in Honfleur should check out this apartment, and if it's available, book it!

"Perfect to explore Normandy"
Perfect location - 2 min walk to Honfleur downtown, free parking behind the churcn - 30 secs, grocery - 10 meters, supermarket - 3 minutes walk. Interior - perfect for a family up to 4 people. Anything you might need for a week stay is there. Immaculately clean. the only issue - in case you might refer to it as an issue - stairs are steep. would definitely return back.

"Lovely apartment, well appointed and a great location"
26 Place St Leonard is tucked away on a road very close to the centre of Honfleur (only 5 minutes). Communication from the owner (Didier) was excellent, and seamless. Payments and refunds were achieved through Paypal, which made the whole process super easy. The apartment is charming, with beams and wood in abundance, and has been decorated and furnished with sympathy to its Norman origins, and a nod to practical modernity, with all conveniences you could hope for (including a superbly equipped kitchen and a high end AV system). The location is ideal, a short walk to the shops and the harbour of Honfleur. nearby is a first class butcher, and an excellent boulangerie (try the Escargot Praline- heavenly!). It is important to know that the apartment is at the top of several flights of narrow, twisting stairs, and therefore unsuitable for the infirm or those with a physically limiting disability. The sleeping accomodation is very comfortable, with a large double in one room, and two singles in the other. This brings me to the only challenge we faced- the upstairs twin room is open to the staircase, and this was a problem for our 4-year old, who found it hard to get to sleep with us downstairs making noise. We eventually took to watching DVDs on our laptop in bed until he was asleep! So, may not be a problem for you, but something to be aware of. All in all, a lovely place to stay, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

"Just as advertsised - lived up to our expectations"
Lovely apartment ideal for our family of 4 with young(ish) children (11 and 6). Everything was as advertised and expected. We found the apartment clean, tidy and with everything in working order. Our girls loved their upstairs room with it's own bathroom. Our room downstairs room was also nice and gave us privacy and space too despite the compact nature of the apartment All of the appliances were to a good standard and in full working order. Sophie who met us on the day of arrival was there right on time and was very helpful. Didier, who handled the booking was also very helpful and prompt to reply to questions/queries. Our security deposit was returned very promptly. The wifi was excellent as was the tv/dvd/ipod dock. That said our main reason for being in Honfleur was for the town itself and Normandy as a whole. For first time visitors neither dissappointed. The apartment was perfect for accessing all Honfleur has to offer shops/restaurants and sights were all a short walk away. It's only couple of doors away from a high class butcher who we bought some of the best fillet steak we have had! An hour in the car gets you to plenty of Chateau, cider/calvdos producers, Bayeaux, Caen and some of the D-Day beaches. We went to Arromanches which is a must for UK visitors. Plus Deauville/Trouville are close by. Any negatives - parking at times was tricky, there is free car park a minute away which you did have to time getting a spot in (although we took the smaller of our cars in the anticipation of this), but we always manged to get a spot. And the 2 flights of spiral stairs up to the apartment may be tricky for some. We had lovely time, we would return and would reccommend this apartment.

"Lovely, comfortable and perfect location"
Didier made our booking so easy and was a lovely person to liaise with. The apartment is a perfect location if you like to in the town and not have to worry about drinking and driving. Lovely and clean and well presented. Perfect for two but quite comfortable for 4.

"Beautiful wooden beamed escape"
A lovely rooftop apartment in within minutes of the centre of Honfleur. Fully equipped and great to have space for our daughter to explore. Very close, convenient and all in all a great getaway place for a couple of days. Sophie who greeted us was very friendly and the place was very clean and tidy. Our only slight problems were a miscommunication with the checking in time and that parking can be a bit tricky.
