About the home

The property is set on one hectare of land and has a complex of houses, studio/barn, garden, meadow and vegetable patch.

As well as being open for self catering holidays we are also promoting art based holidays with ceramic and art workshops which are planned for the summer.

The main house has 4 large rooms (each about 60m2) including, lounge, study, kitchen/dining room and large bedroom with en suite bathroom.

Adjoining the house are two more houses which can be accessed through the main house. The front house has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom and La Chapelle has three bedrooms, kitchen and toilet/shower room.

There are horses in the meadow and also three very friendly dogs and visitors are welcome to bring their own friendly pets.

A one week Raku firing workshop will be held between the 22nd-29 th July 2009 open to all .

The property is of two conjoined houses which can cater for smaller or larger groups; 6 and 12 in La Chapelle and the Main House respectively or 18 in total.
There is also Cluney Cottage with 4 bedrooms which can sleep an extra 7 (not listed above or in the pricing structure as its only just become available) bringing the total to about 25++.

The studio/barn is equipped with pottery facilities; 5 wheels, kilns, slab roller, blunger for slip casting etc. and are available for responsible use. Guidance for less experienced users may be available .
Additional charges will be made for use of kilns, clay and materials depending on usage.

The neighboring house, Cluney cottage is at present being used by resident artists.

Further details outdoors:
The property is secluded and on the oustskirts of the village on one hectare of ground.
The beautiful patio with its overhanging vines and providing shade for the hot sunny days overlooks the lawned garden and church and beautiful sunsets.

The garden is a mix of wild and cultivated with flowers, a vegetable garden and fruit trees; grape, fig, walnut, plum and apple.

Below the complex of houses, barn and hanger is the overground pool measuring 10m x 5m overlooking the meadow and fields.

There are a bunch of 2nd hand bicycles for those that wish to tour the area.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

Dordogne, with its rolling green hills, is surrounded by sunflowers, vineyards and maize fields in the summer.
Perigueux, Bergerac and slightly further Sarlat are charming towns to visit and to dine out.
Also popular are the beautiful villages of Brantome and Aubeterre sur Dronne with its monolithic church carved out of rock, with its square of cafes and river beach nearby.

Further afield are many caves such as the famous Lascaux cave and the breathtaking Rocamador situated on the cliff face.

The Riberac / St Martin de Riberac area

Riberac which is 3kms away has a good Friday market with hundreds of stalls selling food, crafts and clothing etc.
St Martin de Riberac has one pub and nearby on the outskirts of the village there are several supermarkets.

Many bric-a-brac markets, fetes and music can be found though out the summer in nearby towns and villages.

Canoeing down the Dronne is a popular past time with its beautiful still waters and bird life. The Dronne has several beaches along its banks and can also be accessed 2kms from the house.

The lakes at Jamaye ( 15kms) have a sandy beach with cafes and is a great place for family picnics, swimming, canoeing and walking.

What a wonderful place La Perdrix is. It's hard to decide what impressed me the most. The beautiful old buildings, the peace and tranquility, the location or the fabulous food.
There's something very special going on here that you immediately feel part of.
Johnny is a great host, supplying a never ending stream of beautifully cooked food and entertaining everyone with ease.
My favourite evenings were those spent lingering over meals on the patio, with the wine flowing amidst much talking and laughter until the stars were twinkling in the night sky.
Simply magical - I can't wait to return.
