About the home

The Chateau de Varennes is being owned by the same family for 400 years. The main buildings were built in the eighteen century in the most classical French style (ceilings in the reception rooms are 4 meters high).

The Chateau offers over 1500m2 habitable space and was fully refurbished by a team of international designers who added a contemporay touch to its original antiques and period furniture. All rooms are all very well equipped with high quality materials. The reception are can host weddings and large events with hundreds of guests. A professional dedicated wedding planning service is available to assist you preparing your wedding.

The Chateau is the perfect haven for relaxation, yet it is close to all amenities and restaurants.
It is perfectly located for visiting the many sights of the region – the vineyards of Beaune, Dijon the capital of Burgundy and the Jura mountains to the East with outstanding Michelin rated restaurants and golf courses.

Full time professional cook and maids prepare yummy meals and endeavour to make your stay a pure bliss.

As you enter the chateau, you will find a beautiful and original Italian-style, mosaic and marble floored, entrance hall. The paneled dining room dates back to 1900, when oak cut from the estate park was used. There is also the kitchen and the utility rooms that were fully refurbished by a famous interior designer. Kitchens are comprehensively equipped with high quality professional equipment (large induction grill, two ovens, microwave, two fridges including icemaker, dishwasher, large flat screen TV), a large dining table and direct access to the garden and the dining rooms. The entire chateau has wi-fi and there is satellite television carrying channels from around the world in the TV lounge.

Depending on the weather conditions, lunch is generally served near the pool or in the dining rooms. The master dining room can accommodate up to 30 people. There is also a smaller dining room generally used by the children. The main stairway lead to a grand ornate living room with a beautiful painting depicting the four seasons and another living room with marble fireplace, a comfortable sofa, a high end sound system. There is also a TV/play room with XL-large flat screen TV.

The chateau can accommodate up to 30 guests in its 17 bedrooms. There are 12 recently renovated bathrooms (and 1 shower room).
- On the ground floor, an XL suite (king size bed) with a lounge, another connecting bedroom (single bed) and an en-suite bathroom. this groundfloor suite is perfect for wheelchairs or elderly people
- On the first floor there are two big bedrooms (king size bed) with their own ensuite bathroom, another suite (XL bed) with two connecting bedrooms (queen beds) and a bathroom and a bridal suite with XXL bed and XL bathroom.
- On the second floor there are 5 XL suites with bathrooms, one XL suite with bathroom and two connecting bedrooms (one twin and one single) and another XXL suite with ensuite bathroom.

Further details outdoors:
The chateau is located in 100 acres of private parkland with French style gardens and woods, allowing guests to feel totally secluded. There are many beautiful walks around the local area and this offers great opportunity for bird spotting. Shooting can also be organized on request.

There is a large fruit orchard and a kitchen garden with plenty of vegetables and herbs. The outdoor dining room accomodates 30 guests. There are also plenty high quality sun loungers, XXL sunshades and many other luxury outdoor equipment. The pool measures 16m by 5m and is secured for children by an automatic safety cover (made of rigid PVC). Inside the garden, there is also a pool house with a small kitchen, a changing room, a shower and WC.
Also, a mini soccer or rugby playground, children's swings, an XL secured trampoline (4 meters diameter) and XL luxury Weber barbecue. There are also several brand new bikes with helmets at your disposal. Horse-riding, tennis, waterski and many other sports next door.

Today, Burgundy is a country of space, pure air, romance, peace, beauty, tradition, sophistication, style and simple pleasures of life. This is the land where food and wine is an art form.

Go wine tasting, visit the markets and delight in the choice in the supermarkets. Visits to the boulangerie are a ritual in France and the freshly baked baguettes and patisserie impossible to resist.

The Pierre de Bresse / Varennes sur le Doubs area

Many activities are available nearby depending on your mood.

- Winetasting : Burgundy and Jura are famous for the many vineyards which are all accessible within a 30 minute drive
- Tourism : the main sites are Beaune, Dijon, Dole and Lyon. Further North, Auxerre and Autun are worth a visit. The area features beautiful landscapes and many historic monuments: among them, 50 beautiful historic chateaux are recommended to visit within a 60 km radius.
- Shopping and markets : the nearby food markets are famous for the variety and freshness of their direct from farms products direct.
- Sports: beside onsite activities, plenty of sports can easily be practiced in the neighbourhood (golf, waterskiing, biking…)

Chateau de Varennes is located in Southern side of Burgundy amidst the finest vineyards worldwide. It is 12km (7 miles) from the A36 Highway (Exit Seurre) and 30km from A6 Highway.

Nearest towns are Pierre de Bresse (7km), Beaune (30km), Dole (35km) and Dijon (40km).

I rented Le Chateau de Varennes for both friends and family and, more recently, business clients. The Chateau itself is truly a gem - a beautiful, expansive property in a fantastically tranquil location within easy driving distance of Beaune, The Cote D’Or, Dijon and The Jura. All of the grand reception rooms are wonderfully authentic, whilst the bedrooms are by turns grand, cozy or delightfully individual.
