At the village you can find restaurants, bakery, super markets, mini markets, wineries, souvenirs shops , potteries etc.

Megalochori is one of the most beautiful villages on the island which has managed to maintain its traditional architecture, with white houses, small narrow roads, old churches etc.
As far as the name of the village , opinions differ. Some say that the name came from the agricultural fields that the villagers kept, others strongly support that the name came from the personality that it represents from its origin. In any case your visit to this village is considered a fact if you see and experience the way people lived in Santorini many years ago. Even though most of the houses have been renovated, Megalochori has managed to retain its traditional value in combination with its maintaining its tradition which most of its villagers continue doing.
The village is worth photographing especially the church bells, two of which are over the main road. A matter of fact the church bells are from the 'Panagia Isodion' church which is located in the centre of the village with 365 micro icons of saints, and for the'Saint Anargiry' church which is the main saint of the village which you will be able to find a few metres up on the same road. The villagers still have their endless vineyards to be able to produce their fine wines. You can also buy their well-known tomatoes which have been sun-dried, or made into a paste or even better a greek honey sweet. Megalochori also has its own beautiful beaches, many of which are situated under the cliff Kaldera and there is access either on foot following the footpath or by boat. These beaches are called 'Panagia of Plaka' and ' Christ of Athermi' which can be taken from another path. Megalochori also has beaches called ''Vlihada' 'Katavati' and 'Marmari' which can be reached by car or public transportation. You can also go to the winery and try the wines while seeing the premises. Megalochori is known for its ceramic art which is situated on the main road. There you can walk and follow lots of footpaths which were made by the farmers, these paths will take you to 'Emborio', 'Vlichadas beach' 'Saint Anna's' and 'Pirgos'.

"Beautiful house, great location."
We have just returned from four nights in this beautifully restored traditional town house. The house was exactly as described and shown on the website. Very clean, with comfortable beds, generous rooms, well equipped bathrooms and kitchen, a secluded terrace with jacuzzi, and a roof terrace to watch the sun set over the village. Spyridoula and Vagelis could not have been more helpful in meeting us, sharing their knowledge of restaurants, beaches, wineries and other interesting places to visit, and being happy to sort out bookings or answer any questionsduring our stay. The house is close the village centre where there are several restaurants and small shops and is also 5 minutes walk from a very good bakery. Megalochori is a great location for the southern beaches and is very quiet, even in high season, allowing you to avoid the traffic jams and tourist hoards in Oia and Fira in high season, if you want to.

Spyridoula and Vagelis were perfect hosts. The villa itself is exactly what the website says it is, the description is absolutely correct. We cannot fault anything, it was relaxing, the village is lovely with some very good restaurants. We would highly recommend it - brilliant. We would like to thank Spyridoula and Vagelis for a memorable break.

"Stunning villa, exceptional service and great location"
We are a young family and have travelled to Santorini the previous year. We were lucky to have the excuse to go back for a friends wedding. And even more lucky to stay at Anemolia Villa. It was absolutely ideal for us, it was very high spec, and looked great throughout, and ideal for our little boy as well – the Villa is very private, with lots and lots of space which isn’t common in Santorini, really comfy beds, satellite TV DVD player etc, good aircon nice towels shampoos etc. The Jacuzzi was amazing and great for Leon to play in, and with the big umbrella the whole terrace can be shaded if you want somewhere for children to play outside – so just on the Villa itself I can really recommend staying here. However – there’s lots more reasons to choose Anemolia, one Megalochori Village itself is in my opinion the most classy part of the island, it’s relatively quiet and peaceful, elegant, and has 4 /5 top restaurants that will also do food for you to have back at the villa, a few nice craft gift shops, bakery, and one of the best winery’s in Santorini, selling locally made and pressed wine. The Village is also not more than 15 minutes from anywhere other than Oia on the island – and if you go for a week it’s unlikely you’ll go to Oia more than once. (If you do book a restaurant to watch the sunset from; either from the bay which is a bit more pricey or half way up the cliff – it’s ridiculous with all the jostling especially in high season anywhere else). And that’s the other part why Megalochori is so lovely is the rest of the island is absolutely rammed Thira Firostefani and Oia especially – they are lovely but you won’t get any peace so if you like things a bit more high end, and private with good service – you won’t get better than Anemolia – you'll be looking at 10’s of thousands for a week for anywhere even approaching it! And finally the service – Spyridoula is a legend! She literally cannot do more for you, she came from a wedding once to help us with something even. Leon absolutely loved her and she is great with kids (Like a lot of the Satorinian’s we met actually), and it was really comforting knowing we could have her babysitting him whilst we went to the wedding. She also sorted out someone to drive us round which was so much better than the island taxis which are a bit all over the place, & pick up multiple passengers after you’ve booked them etc. So the whole thing was very relaxing, easy, and enjoyable for all of us : ) Thanks Spyridoula!

"Paradise on earth!"
My husband and I, together with our parents, spent 4 nights in Santorini at Anemolia Villa. It was the BEST 4 nights spent there! The villa was very clean, well-maintained, and huge! We were 5 people under 1 roof, and there was still room! The entire villa was laid out well, and the interior deco was very cosy. The view from the rooftop was spectacular, both in the daytime for breakfast, and at night when we went up to gaze at the stars (we saw shooting stars too! How absolutely magical!). The kitchen was well-equipped, and we used it to the max without any problems when we decided to cook on our last night. The jacuzzi was something we looked forward to return “home” to every day after our exploration around Santorini. The bathroom was big and clean, and we had shampoo/shower gel/soap provided, as well as separate towels for our showers and the jacuzzi. It wasn’t just the villa that made our stay at Santorini amazing. Our host, Spyridoula, was the “icing on the delicious cake”. Already before we arrived in Santorini, she was communicating with me both by email and once on the phone. We made arrangements for practical things like the airport/ferry terminal transfers, as well as the car rental (very recommended, if you want to explore Santorini). Everything was taken care of in advance, so we didn’t need to worry at all. Spyridoula welcomed us when we arrived, and it felt like we already knew each other for a long time! She opened a bottle of white wine as a welcome to her villa, gave us a tour around the villa, and showed us how things worked. She then provided us with maps, a list of things to do in Santorini, and suggestions for restaurants in the area. She also cleaned the villa every morning during our stay, and re-stocked the refrigerator with breakfast for the next day. It wasn't just the practical things that Spyridoula helped us with. My husband and I were celebrating our 10 years anniversary in Santorini, and when she found out about that, she went the extra mile! She recommended a special restaurant for us to have dinner at on our anniversary night, booked the place for us, and even arranged to have a delicious heart-shaped cake with 10 candles to celebrate with! She also arranged a surprise tour together with our parents as an anniversary gift from them to us. Talk about a 7-star service!!! I recommend EVERYONE to stay at Anemolia Villa when visiting Santorini for the first time. Megalochori isn’t like the tourist areas of Fira and Oia, so don’t expect to see a lot of tourists or shops in the area. If you want a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of people and traffic, then stay at Anemolia Villa, rent a car to get around, and I guarantee you that you will have a fantastic time in Santorini. We certainly did!

"We loved it!"
A small authentic village in Santorini, a traditional house wonderfully renovated, a nice, helpful and very welcoming owner. Everything was just perfect! Megalochori is ideally located to visit the island in a convenient way (rent a car) and avoid the cruise tourits invading the island every morning. The village is really pretty with a central square with nice local restaurants. The house offers a quiet location, a rooftop terrace with seaview and an outside jacuzzi. A combination of comfort, design, high tech ...and tradition. What else....? Spyridoula will help you organise your journey (before arrival and during your stay), will provide with tons of useful tips and suggestions. She is really great! In a nutshell, adults and kids, WE JUST LOVED IT!

This place is absolutely incredible!!!! Amazing villa, we loved every minute. Spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and well located with a beautiful view from the terrace. The Jacuzzi is fantastically relaxing. The pictures exactly reflect how beautiful is this villa. Spyridoula and her husband were amazing, so friendly and extremely helpful - organizing transfers, tickets, rent and helping us carry our luggage as well as checking if everything was ok. They also gave us the best great advice about places to go around. This place is extremely quiet and homey, and we would definitely stay here again! Amazing 6 days, we highly recommend it!
