A mile from the Estate entrance, Strathan House nestles among the hills and fields and often, in the evenings, deer come in to the gardens to graze. Attadale Estate offers glorious walking (including two Munros) loch and river fishing. When you stay in Strathan House, you have complimentary access to Attadale Gardens at all times.

Strathan is a mile up the glen from the entrance to Attadale Estate nestling between the hills and fields near the river Attadale. There is even a small burn running through the garden. A tranquil place, the only noise comes from the sheep, cows and wildlife that surround the cottages. Traffic on the narrow road that leads up to the cottages is estate traffic or visitors staying in one of the cottages. Attadale is ideal for family holidays and for visitors of all ages who appreciate the peace.

Strathan House is a well-built Victorian farmhouse, which sleeps eight. There is a comfortable sitting room with an open fire. The kitchen includes a dining table and leads out into a utility room with additional sink and useful space for boots and coats. There are four bedrooms, one double on the ground floor, and three twin bedrooms upstairs. The two bathrooms each include a shower over the bath tub and lavatory.

Baby cot and high chairs available.

The house has a new kitchen installed last year with electric cooker, microwave oven, fridgefreezer, immersion heater, electric heaters in all rooms, a shaver socket and a heated rail in the bathrooms.

There is no television reception but there is a TV/DVD player. Wifi is available.

A laundrette with drying facilities is available a mile up the road at Attadale House.

The tariff includes the use of the house and all its contents.

Duvets and linen are supplied, including towels.

Wood is also included for the fire, but coal and electricity are extra. The electricity meter should be read on arrival and departure and paid for before leaving.

The Ross and Cromarty region

Lochcarron is undoubtedly one of the gems of the North Western Highlands of Scotland.

Whilst it may not be quite as well known as Plockton, Gairloch or Ullapool, this very beautiful part of Wester Ross abounds in some of the most magnificent scenery in the British Isles with the mountains of Applecross and Torridon to the North, rivers and glens, lochs and villages such as Applecross, Kishorn, Shieldaig & Torridon, looking out to the Western Isles and the Atlantic Ocean. The Isle of Skye and Eilean Donan Castle are nearby to the South.

Those who would like to explore the breathtaking North West Coast of Scotland might like to know that the Attadale Estate has four beautifully appointed holiday cottages, all designed by Nicky Macpherson.

There is an abundance of wildlife here, climbing and walking are superb, boating and sailing are expanding, we are proud of our Shinty Team. For those interested in diving, another magnificent world of marine life exists beneath the waves. The waters in and around Loch Carron are particularly noted for their superb clarity making it an ideal place for underwater photography. If you play golf, Lochcarron has its own 9-hole course in a superb loch side location and visitors are very welcome. For railway enthusiasts, we have the famous Kyle Line which was featured as one of Michael Palin's “Great Railway Journeys of the World” and more recently by Michael Portillo in "Great British Railway Journeys".

"cute house in the middle of a very nice surounding"

It is a very beautyful, clean and cute house, one of the three. There is enough space for 8 People - there are 4 bedrooms and in the master bedroom is a double bed. It has a fitted kitchen where you can cook and bake, if you want to. In the living room is a TV, but only for DVD's - you have so many things to see... TV is not necessary ;) The houses are very close to the Attadale Garden (a really nice place!) where you can find the washing machine. Strathcarron is close by. Also close by is a good restaurant (we are from germany, it is a recommendation for non schottish or english people ;)) and a pub. The owner is very obliging and behave. She'll help you, if you have any questions. The only thing which we've missed, was the garden furniture. There is a small bench but that's all. Enjoy your stay - the people in this area are so nice and the landscape is so amazing!

Thank you for your helpful suggestion, we shall certainly be buying more garden furniture for 2014 as it will help other people enjoy their stay here - although it is not always quite so sunny! You are right that there is no TV signal at the cottage but you can enjoy watching DVDs instead. It is good to know that you enjoyed the local restaurant, the pub and visiting our Gardens. Again many thanks indeed for taking so much trouble to let others know about Attadale and the local area. We're glad you all enjoyed your holiday.

"Idyllic getaway in the Highlands"

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Strathan House, Attadale, nr Strathcarron and cannot recommend this beautiful cottage highly enough. We were a family group - three year old, parents and Grandparents and we had the most wonderful time. The location is the cottage on the Attadale Estate is breathtaking - a track leads straight from the door into the wilderness. For anyone interested in hill walking it is possible to walk or cycle in to Bendronaig and climb the two mountains (Bidein a Coire Sheasgaich and Lurg Mhor) - my husband did this on a sunny April day and said it was one of his best hillwalking days ever! The cottage was comfortably furnished and well equipped. We enjoyed many an evening chatting about the days adventures in front of a roaring fire, or enjoying a bottle of wine around the large dining table. Each evening we were visited by deer which came down from the hills to mow the lawn! As guests of the Attadale Estate we were able to visit the beautiful gardens of Attadale house at no extra cost - highly recommended. All in all a fabulous stay in a beautiful part of Scotland.

We have been remiss in not thanking you earlier for your kindness in providing such a generous review. We're delighted that the whole family could enjoy their stay here and managed to do so much while they were here. Thanks again

"Best of the west coast"

We have stayed in Strahan House for a number of years in a row. The setting is idyllic and an excellent base for trips to Skye, Applecross, Torridon, Plockton and beyond. Amazingly you can reach the spot by rail - with Attadale station right next to the estate. The charming Macpherson family and the whole team at Attadale make you very welcome, and the whole experience, including the fabulous gardens, is the best way to recharge your batteries.

"Brilliant"

A great place for a family holiday if you love the great outdoors. The cottage was large but comfortable and had everything we needed. The garden was superb and lovely for children provided they are supervised. More like an adventure playground really. A benefit was the use of the laundry facilities at Attadale and the free access to their beautiful gardens and sculptures.
