The East Anglia region

East Anglia and Suffolk in particular is one of Britain's best kept secrets. It is a place that many pass by on their way to somewhere else. Because of this it is relatively unspoilt and quiet. There are no motorways and only a very few main roads cross the county. This makes visiting Suffolk a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

The countryside is gentle and accessible and the small market towns are a delight to visit. The Suffolk Heritage Coast has something for all visitors from the old fashioned seaside charm of Southwold and Walberswick, where time seems to have stood still, to the heaths and wildness of Dunwich and Minsmere.

Suffolk has some of the best food producers in the country and many of the excellent pubs and restaurants make use of this produce in their menus.

East Anglia is the driest part of Britain and has a very temperate climate. It is, therefore, an ideal destination for walkers and cyclists as the terrain is fairly level and the countryside unspoilt. Motoring is also a good way to explore as the roads are quiet.

There are places to visit to suit all tastes from wildlife parks, and activity centres for children to golf courses and pretty villages with attractive old buildings and churches for those seeking a quieter experience.

Halesworth

Just a short distance inland from the popular coastal area of Southwold, Walberswick and Dunwich, the Blyth Valley, in which Halesworth sits at the heart, has something to offer everyone. Country lanes and footpaths weave their way through a gentle landscape leading to fascinating old churches, country pubs, museums and a selection of old buildings dating back centuries. There is a rich diversity of wildlife and the area is home to many artists and craft studios.

Halesworth has much to offer the visitor. It has an unhurried and friendly atmosphere and the pedestrianised Thoroughfare with its variety of small independent shops, restaurants and pubs makes visiting the town a worthwhile experience.

Halesworth is fast becoming a centre for the arts, hosting the nationally acclaimed High Tide Festival of Drama in the Spring and the Halesworth Arts Festival which brings together drama, music, art and craft for two weeks in the Autumn at The Cut Arts Centre. In addition, there is a year round programme of events and productions to suit all tastes. The ever popular Latitude Festival at Henham Park is just 3 miles away.

Walking the many paths and tracks that surround Halesworth is the best way to see the abundance of wildlife in this area. The Millennium Green, which is easily accessible from the town centre is the largest of its kind in England and is home to kingfishers, barn owls, reedbirds, otters and a host of other species.

"Beautiful setting wonderful facilities great getaway."

We had a really lovely stay. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into the little touches which make all the difference when you require a home from home. The swimming pool is a wonderful addition & you are encouraged to make the most of it. We were there when it snowed absolutely beautiful surroundings. Will most definitely be returning in the summer.
