The Tuscany region
Due to its history and its strong cultural and linguistic unity, is one of the oldest Italian and beautiful regions and defined identity, as to be considered by some to be a real "nation." The name is very old and is derived from Greek and Latin used to define the land inhabited by the Etruscans, "Etruria" later turned into a "Tuscia" and then in "Toscana". The borders of present-day Tuscany correspond broadly to those ancient Etruria, which included parts of present regions of Lazio and Umbria, to the Tiber. You canfind all history, breathtaking landscapes and the best wine ad food.
The Santa Maria Novella neighbourhood, where Via della Scala represents the main road, is one of the oldest in Florence: the ancient road takes its name from the ex-hospital of Santa Maria della Scala, founded in 1313.
The location is very good for its closeness to the historical center, to the “Lungarni” that can be easily reached by foot, to the streets of Tornabuoni renowned for its luxury shopping with many top stores lining the streets, to the Fortezza da Basso wich is the main congress and exhibition center of Florence and to “Mercato Centrale di San Lorenzo” where you will be able to find everithing you need for fresh food. Particular stores, artisan workshops and antiquarian shops as well as “trattorie” typical of the traditional tuscan cooking make this neighbourhood a lively place, full of life, where to spend a pleasant stay
