Cottage | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
The Snug shares the 3 acre extensive private gardens of Lymington Cottage and it is surrounded by beautiful shrubs and trees.
Situated along a country lane between Truro and Falmouth, at the head of the Devoran river. John, the very helpful owner lives nearby and is a mine of information on local walks, pubs etc.
Partly 18th century, this lovely old character barn has been renovated and furnished with great attention to detail by the owner. On entering the glazed kitchen door you arrive in the neat and well equipped kitchen with the bathroom on the same level, then three steps up lead you to the large and very spacious lounge with a high open beamed ceiling and comfortable co-coordinated furnishings. An attractive living flame gas fire (looks like a wood-burning stove) and many books, maps and items of interest, make this a cosy and peaceful spot for a holiday at any time of the year.
There is a pretty bedroom which leads off the lounge which has a 5' double bed. There is sofabed in the lounge to allow for more versatile accommodation for travelling companions. Outside is an ornamental pond, garden furniture, a paddock, and a swing! There is a river side walk, a wild flower meadow and an orchard, all of which you are welcome to enjoy. Due to the river walk and extensive gardens, young children should be supervised. The river can be fast flowing and the pond is unprotected.
The Snug is close to the coast to coast cycle path which passes nearby and close to Devoran (good food pub, bus stops, creek, quay and excellent bird watching) with bicycles to hire near by.

The West Country region
The West Country / Cornwall
Cornwall's 'Med': here is Cornwall at its warmest, most sheltered; of creeks and tidal waters penetrating deep inland, deep in woods, silent except for birdsong; wonderful gardens growing things that live nowhere else outdoors in England marvellous in rhododendron, camellia, magnolia time, from March to end of May especially; sailing boats everywhere decorating the sea; harbour villages where the light is Mediterranean - dazzling in the sunshine. Close to Truro, Cornwall's (small) capital city, with its 20th century cathedral; Falmouth, resort town and cargo/cruise ship/yacht port, superbly sited; and the glorious Helford River. Trewithen, Trelissick, Glendurgan, Trebah, Heligan and Caerhays Castle are among the finest gardens. In the very middle of Cornwall, Lanhydrock house is very special, so is its garden. Close by is St Mawes, with its very own castle, right opposite Falmouth very own castle ! Not to be missed is St Just-in-Roseland's churchyard; and of course the The Eden Project.
Perranwell: village post office and shop, excellent food pub in country lanes between Falmouth and Truro, 5 miles from each, with the coast-to-coast cycle path nearby.
Branch line railway (to Truro and Falmouth).
Sailing and good golf nearby. Sandy beaches, 5 miles; Trelissick Gardens and King Harry Ferry to the Roseland Peninsula, 3 miles.
