There is a small mini market in the square which is open 7 days a week.
Every morning a bread man will visit & sound his horn to let you know he is here in the square.
There is a very nice local taverna on the corner with varied daily specialities, also very reasonably priced.
The nearby Village of Plaka which has several tavernas & bars as well as a well stocked mini market that stays open late. The Bicorna Hotel just down the lane is a lovely spot for a drink. Sometimes they stage music nights.
The village of Kokkino Xorio has a lovely taverna called 'The Retreat' with a stunning view looking over the resort of Almyrida
Almyrida is a sea-side resort , it has an excellent beach that shelves very gently into the sea making it ideal for children.(except for the small beach near the Almyrida Beach Apts where there are dangerous currents) There are a good selection of tavernas, bars & provision shops.
Kalives, 7 kms away & walkable along the coastal path from Almyrida, offers a wider choice of shops & tavernas plus banks with an ATM. There is also a large Inka supermarket on the outskirts, worth a trip if you're going to cater for yourselves.
Georgioupolis has 2 spacious beaches & a large public swimming pool. There are many more tourist facilities here & the 30 minute drive over the mountains is spectacular.
