The Hebrides region
The Isle of Mull, said to be the prettiest of all the Hebrides, is a place to unwind, to enjoy peace and tranquility, breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife and a variety of activities. Having the choice to do as much or as little as you wish is the essence of a good holiday. Some of the options available are:
Take a boat trip to Staffa, The Treshnish Isles or Iona. Climb the island Munro - all 3170 feet of it! Chill out on the white sands of Calgary. Take a wildlife watching trip for your best chance of viewing otters, golden and sea eagles, porpoise, red deer, seals and whales as well as the huge variety of flora and fauna for which Mull is famous.
Go pony trekking, Whale searching and Loch fishing. Spoil a good walk with a round of golf on either of two courses both of which have beautiful settings and panoramic views. Visit Duart Castle, the ancient seat of the Clan MacLean of Mull. Indulge yourselves at the chocolate factory. Discover the Mull of the past at the museum
Enjoy the latest exhibition at An Tobar Arts Centre or maybe catch a concert. Watch a play at the theatre. Visit the distillery, try a wee dram. Browse in craft shops selling goods by local craftsmen. Visit galleries showcasing local artists.
Enjoy a selection of locally sourced real food, e.g. shellfish, local beef, lamb or pork at one of the many eating establishments. Explore the coast (we've got 300 miles, - 480km. of it) much of it wild, rugged, full of surprises, keep an eye to the ocean for many different seabird species and the occasional fin - porpoises, sharks, sunfish, dolphins, whales, including orca are seen occasionally!
Mull is a Mecca for geologists with a great variety of formations from different eras in the formation of the planet.
Are you fascinated by archaeology and history? We have duns, brochs, forts, standing stones, scores of ruined villages, each with a story to tell.
Finally, stories about constant rain and wind in the west of Scotland should be ignored. During May and June we often have near drought conditions and wall to wall sunshine. Sunburn is a risk on Mull, bring the factor 15, but also bring the wellies just in case! If you are looking for peace and tranquillity amongst spectacular scenery with the opportunity to do as you please, then look no further
The isle of Mull is home to Duart Castle, seat of the Clan Maclean.
There are many festivals, including Mull Music Festival (last weekend in April), Mull & Iona Wild Life Week (2nd week in May); Mendelssohn on Mull (1st week in July); MacLean Gathering 18-24th June; Mull and iona Food Festival (1st week in September) and Mull Rally (2nd weekend in October) as well as Rugby Sevens, Highland Games, Yachting Week, Agricultural Shows at Bunessan and Salen, a Half Marathon and the local Mod.

"Another great long weekend"
For the third year running myself and a few mates have enjoyed another great long weekend staying in Rowan Lodge, watching the rally and taking in what must be some of the best views anywhere in the UK. If you have not yet discovered this magical island, Cill Mhoire lodges are the ideal place to stay. They are clean, tidy, very well equipped and the view is even better now that the trees have gone. Your hosts Andrew and Janet will ensure you have everything that you need - highly recommended.

"Lovely, cosy, well-equipped lodge"
We spent four nights at Rowan Lodge with our 20 month old little boy. We had a lovely time - the lodges are in a nice quiet location a short walk away from Dervaig, so it was peaceful but not too isolated. Tobermory was only a short drive away, too. The lodge was great - it had everything we could possibly have needed, and was always warm and cosy. Just what we wanted! The upstairs living room especially was really nicely decorated, and there were lots of toys and games to keep our little boy amused. All in all, we had a great time and would thoroughly recommend Rowan Lodge to anyone wanting a nice, peaceful break on the Isle of Mull.
Thank you for taking the time to review Rowan Lodge. Janet and I are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We work hard to ensure that all our guests have a good time and reading your review makes all our efforts worth while, thank you.

"Beautiful apartment in fantastic location on Mull"
The lodge was built in wood to a high specification, was very comfortable, and the owners were very friendly and provided us with information about things to see and do. The location was convenient for seeing around Mull and other islands and the lodge was good value for money. Highly recommend.

"A wonderful place to relax and enjoy Mull"
My husband and I stayed in Rowan lodge for a week during April 2012. The lodge was lovely, very clean, tidy and well equipped. It has an alpine feel to it due to its wooden structure and manages to be cosy and spacious at the same time. It was a perfect place to snuggle up when the weather was not too great!
Andrew and Janet were excellent hosts - friendly and available when we needed them without being overbearing. They were also an excellent source of knowledge on lots of different things from wildlife to the local geological formations! The lodge had lots of info pamphlets and maps provided on local restaurants and walks all around the island. The Isle of Mull itself is gorgeous - just remember that at this time of year the weather can change at will! Dervaig is a delightful little village with real character and a pub that serves fantastic food that is only a short walk from the lodge.
We really enjoyed ourselves and were really pleased with the lodge. We are hoping to go back next year.
Thank you for taking the time to review Rowan Lodge; Janet and I are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back to Mull in the future.

"A very comfortable reasonably priced place to stay for a holiday on Mull"
Easy to book, easy to locate with very welcoming and helpful hosts. The property was clean on arrival, well appointed, and each room is a good size so no claustrophobia here. We especially liked the up-stairs lounge which is bright and airy, tastefully decorated, has Views and very comfortable chairs unlike many self catering accommodation we have stayed in. There are also several good places to eat within easy reach.
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay in Rowan Lodge, we appreciate the feedback. Janet and I are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you again.
