"Wonderful unique place. Pure Magic."
La Colonica is a wonderful unique place. From the moment they opened the big gates, this year's holiday became pure magic. We were overcome with the setting - the beautiful cottage is surrounded by wonderful gardens, and was bathed in sunlight when we arrived. Inside the house, everything was cool. We chose a large bedroom with a huge four poster bed, and en suite bathroom. From the bedroom we looked out on gardens, olive grove and Cortona! We had breakfast on the patio, and afterwards went sightseeing or stayed home sunbathing and reading. There is a lot to see - Cortona, Siena, Assisi, the Tuscan hill towns, the Val d’Orcia and best of all, the Abbey of Mount Oliveto. A once in a lifetime experience. Total peace and quiet. The villa is amazing. It is so beautifully decorated and there is everything one can need - even reusable shopping bags! It is magnificently well-maintained and kept sparkling by a wonderful lady who brings flowers and fruit from the garden. Grazie Signora! There are shaded swings in the gardens and olive grove for reading, day-dreaming.... There is incredibly good Wi-Fi (even in the garden!). La Colonica has no swimming pool so most days we went to a lovely quiet pool a few minutes away.We had barbecues, we cooked pasta, we bought wonderful fruit, vegetables and breads at the local markets and got wine from the local vineyard. We sat in the garden in the evenings with a drink listening to music and wondered what made the Tuscan light so special! I have never been so relaxed in my life, nor has my husband. This place is so unique, the gentle owner who lives on another house on the estate and never intrudes, the friendly staff, and the wonderful dogs, Flint and Rocco. We are going back!

"Exceptional Tuscan Rental"
My wife and I just spent 4 weeks at La Colonica. We have been traveling to Europe and staying for multiple weeks in rented cottages and apartments for the past 6 years. La Colonica was easily our best self-catering experience so far. Unlike many rental properties we've stayed in, La Colonica is very nicely furnished, very clean and decorated to a level that you would have or would like to have in your own home. Everything we needed was there. The house is also fully air conditioned which provided a welcome oasis after traipsing around Florence and the hilltop villages in the hot summer months. Most important, though, was the friendly assistance provided by the staff. They were always available and provided an abundance of advice and guidance on the local sights (in English). We were even treated to a few dishes (e.g., very tasty home-made pasta meal, fruit salad) prepared by the owner who also allowed us to enjoy delicious apricots and plums from the trees on his property. It is very quiet so you can be assured of a good night's rest (something we didn't get in a number of other accommodations we've stayed in).

"Great Base and Caring Hosts"
We wanted a Tuscan retreat situated in a central spot in the region to maximize our traveling and La Colonica was a perfect choice. We arrived late but David had already offered to buy us groceries and made us feel welcome immediately we arrived. Never short of suggestions, our hosts were discrete but available. The dogs were a joy for the kids as well. Overall the atmosphere made this lodging a home away from home and complemented the wonderful Tuscan experience. We would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a central location in the region. Thanks David and Cesare and we look forward to revisiting.
