The villa is newly built (2007) and 2009 is the first year that the property has been available for let. It is an ideal property for anyone looking for a holiday in a quite semi rural location with an easy way of life.
Only 2Km from the relaxed and family friendly resort of Arillas with it's Blue Flag beach, Villa Gecko provides amazing panoramic sea and island views by day time and even more spectacular sunsets (one every day).
The area provides fantastic scenery round almost every corner and is ideal for those with walking in mind with quiet roads and little used tracks to explore. (Useful info. visit www.marengowalks.com OR www.corfutrail.org).
By car, there are many interesting places to visit within easy reach, including traditional villages, largely untouched by tourism, or just explore the hills and valleys within this fantastic countryside. The rugged coast of this area offers a surprising variety of smaller beaches as well as the spectacular beauty of Paleokastritsa.

The Ionian Islands region
Corfu (or Kerkyra as it is called locally) is the Northernmost of the 7 main Ionian Islands, situated off the West coast of the Greek mainland & Albania, & close to the heel of Italy. Corfu's climate, with its relatively high winter rainfall, means that it is much greener to the eye than the barren sun-scorched rock images often associated with the Greek islands.
While very Greek (obviously), the architecture has a strong Venetian influence, particularly evident in Corfu Town, while it's proximity to Italy has influenced the food and menus available. For years now, Corfu has been a firm favourite with British and, as a result, the locals are very friendly and welcoming.
Corfu / Arillas area
Arillas (in the North-Western corner of Corfu) is a small friendly holiday resort with a superb sandy Blue Flag beach (ideal for families) and a good range of bars and family-run tavernas. The pace of life is very relaxed through the day & continues much the same at night. (For more info. visit www.arillas.com).
For a change of scenery, to the South of Arillas is the resort of Agious Georgios (St. George NORTH), while to the North is the very family friendly beach of San Stefanos, each with their own individual character and both within easy reach. The nearby village of Afionas is generally considered the most beautiful on Corfu.
Inland from the coast is "real Greece", with many small natural villages, largely untouched by tourism, nestling within the olive groves, mountains & wooded valleys.
For the more energetic visitor, the island offers various diversions such as a full-sized golfcourse, Aqualand waterpark, the palace of Achilleon & the many sights of Corfu Town itself.

Further details indoors: Villa Gecko is a detatched property comprising of an open plan living area on the ground floor with a fully fitted kitchen, dining and lounge area leading to a large west facing patio. There is a separate toilet (English plumbing!) and further east facing terrace (ideal for breakfasts).
The first floor has 2 double size bedrooms, air-conditioning available (payable locally) and a large bathroom (English plumbing) complete with bath & separate shower cubicle. Both bedrooms have access to a large shared balcony, again with spectacular sea, island & sunset views.
Further details outdoors: The gardens are recently planted and will soon mature with the addition of fruit trees and other natural plants and flowers typical to the region. (Note: the elevated nature of the gardens means the property is unsuitable for young children).
To the side, a good sized driveway provides ample parking space.
