About the home

Treat yourself by staying in our large 3 bedroom apartment with huge terrace (100 sqm internal with 70 sqm terrace) on the Condado de Alhama golf resort. Built in 2009 and located on an exclusive island (La Isla) with its own 24 hour security over the moat entrance. Enjoy long lazy meals on the expansive terrace with views over the lake and towards the Carrascoy mountain (and where the future Paramount Theme Park should be located).

Free access to large infinity swimming pools (with child sections), activity & child play areas on the island. Short 5 min walk to the resort supermarket, bars & restaurants. Pay and play golf and sports facilities on the resort. Short drive to fabulous child-friendly beaches and numerous sea-side restaurants at Puerto de Mazarron and Bolnuevo.

Satellite LCD TV, aircon and wifi in the apartment.There is 1 superking sized bed and 4 single beds (and any two of the singles can be bound together). The golf course is a superb Jack Nicklaus Signature course with excellent practice facilities and new clubhouse. There are 3 sets of golf clubs (right handed) available for free use by guests. We have lived as a family in Murcia for many months so know the area very well and provide a detailed 25 page information pack (including lots of restaurant and beach suggestions) to guests.

Modern kitchen. Aircon in all rooms. Patio doors from 2 bedrooms on to the large terrace, Large wardrobes. Dining table. Sofa. Patio table. Beach/pool chairs. Recliner patio chairs. 1 super-king sized bed and 4 single beds. Many books and DVDs with satellite LCD TV and wireless internet in the apartment along with ipod speakers, radio, telescope, binoculars (for bird and mountain watching) and local maps/info. There is a toddler bed guard and baby walker. Other baby equipment can be hired. See photos for more information.

Further details outdoors:
A guest staying on the island has free access to a children's play area and outdoor badminton, table tennis, boules and outdoor gym equipment along with a clubhouse (which has free wifi) where the games equipment is stored. There are two large infinity pools on the island which both have an inbuilt shallow children's area. On the resort there are bars and restaurants with supermarket all a 5 min walk away. Tennis, squash courts, basketball, paddle tennis, football and related equipment are hirable. Discounted golf rates available to guests at around 50 euros (and twilight golf often available at 35 euros) - the course on the resort is called 'Signature Alhama and was voted best course in Murcia in 2012. It is a 35 min drive to the ancient city of Cartagena with its Roman Amphitheatre. La Manga Club and the Mar Menor is a 45 minute drive. Low cost airlines fly to Murcia (45 mins) and Alicante (1.25 hours) airports. Average temps in Murcia are normally approx. 10°C warmer than central England.

Start/End date of stay can be on any day of the week. A £100 damage deposit is required for each booking. Cleaning fee of £45 is extra. This will ensure all beds are made up for you prior to arrival and all linen/towels and floors cleaned after you leave. A welcome pack of food/drinks can be arranged at cost plus £5 service charge. Baby equipment can also be organised for an extra hire cost. We know other owners on La Isla and can arrange extra accomodation for larger groups next to our apartment or elsewhere on la Isla.

The Murcia region

Costa Calida translates as the 'Warm Coast' and with over 300 sunny days in Murcia each year you can understand why. Murcia is also known as the 'garden of Spain' & for La Manga Club which was established near the Mar Menor salt-water lagoon in the 1970s. Recent years have seen a number of golf resorts built & to support the new developments there are brand new motorways but traffic is still low so getting about is easy.

There are a number of not-to-be-missed Spanish Festivals during the year. The old city of Murcia is 30 mins away with a Water Park, Zoo, Shops, Museums & Cathedral. The ancient city of Cartagena www.cartagenaturismo.es is 35 mins away with its Roman amphitheatre, Marina, Parks & Shops. Lorca is 30 mins away with its famous Castles (e.g. Fortress of the Sun). Closer are fishing villages/towns where you can walk the promenade or take a boat trip. Alternatively you can go walking or mountain biking in the mountains (e.g. Sierra Espuna National Park) or enjoy the numerous lovely unspoilt beaches.

Normal Temperatures in Murcia are 10 degrees centigrade higher than central England.

The Condado de Alhama / La Isla area

Condado de Alhama is a new golf resort set in a valley between the mountain nature reserves of Sierra Espuña and Carrascoy-El Valle, consisting of 3,500 properties on a 900 hectare (2,250 acre) site. See the official resort website at www.condadodealhama.eu and if you want to see the official video about the resort's annual August Medieval Festival there is this www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHwRwmf47t4 from 2012.The gated resort is situated midway between Alhama de Murcia and the coastal town of Mazarron, just off the new RM23/RM3 motorway and is about a 15 min drive from the resort entrance to beaches at Mazarron or 30 mins to the ancient city of Cartagena. La Isla was built in 2009 as the exclusive area of Condado and consists of 11 apartment blocks aligned in an oval shape on a made-man island totalling 396 apartments (36 apartments on each block) - ours is one of a small number of extra-large apartments on La Isla. La Isla also has its own 24 hour manned security entrance over a moat and a 5 min walk away is the resort supermarket and restaurants and bars. It's a 45 min drive to La Isla from the Murcia airport at San Javier or 1.25 hours from Alicante. Murcia airport is due to move from San Javier to Corvera in 2013/14 which will cut transfer time in half (down to just 20 mins) from the airport to Condado.

“Great holiday for chilling out with great golf course and practise facilities.” The apartment had all the necessary requirements which made the short break I had very enjoyable. The golf courses I played were in very good condition even after the Autumn mantenance work on the greens. In fact the practise facilities are superb and within walking distance. A definate place for anyone wishing to seriously improve their game. The local beaches are unspoilt with the sea lovely and warm ,ideal for swimming and safe for children. Cratagena is my type of city with nice restaurants and shops , bars etc. The harbour area is a lovely place to just chill out in the evening. I now look forward to my next visit.

“Ideal Base for the Area” Extremely well appointed apartment with local amenities and added advantage of championship golf course on site. Great centre to visit area and also access the many other brilliant golf courses in the environs. Transport essential for getting around but could pass a very enjoyable stay relaxing on the complex.
