Home description
Podere Le Lame is an enchanting small Tuscan Mill surrounded by four hectares of grass and woodland, including a large number of fine, old olive trees. Access is down a track half a kilometre in length, but a car is essential. Ours is the last property, so there is no passing traffic. It is a house for complete peace and relaxation.
It has three double bedrooms with twin beds and new bathrooms with power showers en suite. There is a large hall/dining/kitchen and a smaller sitting room with an open fire and French windows to a little loggia which gives protection from the sun.
There are two outside eating areas with large tables under shade for entertaining. We have comfortably dined ten people. One shaded area overlooks the pool.

The Tuscany region
Cetona is in the south-eastern corner of Tuscany and, as such, it is not in "Chiantishire", so one seldom comes across anybody other than Italians in the local shops. It is however very much sought after by smart Italians from Milan, Florence and Rome, and their arrival within the last twenty years has seen a great increase in the number and quality of the local restaurants.
Cetona area
The house is above the beautiful village of Cetona which is approximately 2 kilometres away and a lovely forty minute walk. It is situated between the three villages of Cetona, San Casciano dei Bagni and Sarteano, all of which boast wonderful restaurants and weekly markets.
Cetona is marvellously located, being almost equidistant from Florence and Rome. Siena, Arezzo and Orvieto are also within reach. It is l2 minutes from a main line railway station and thriving town, where it is easy to take a train to any of these cities for the day. All around the area are glorious small towns where you can see ravishing art works and eat the best ice cream in the world.
Tennis is available in Cetona, and horse riding in San Sasciano dei Bagni. As the name suggests, there are also baths - in fact naturally heated Roman baths - which it is claimed have therapeutic properties - in San Sasciano dei Bagni. How to get there
Flights to Florence, Rome Ciampano, Pisa or Perugia (Ryanair to Perugia and Rome, Easyjet to Pisa and Rome). Rome, Florence and Pisa are all one and a half hours away. All airports offer car hire facilities.
Chiusi is the nearest town and has an enormous railway interchange so it easy to reach by rail.
We are very accessible to the motorway A1, which makes all journeys shorter and easier than houses deep in the Tuscan hills.
