Farmhouse near Siena
Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Farmhouse "I Moraioli" is in Montebenichi in the heart of the Chianti hills. A unique panorama, a breathtaking view over a valley among the most beautiful and unspoilt ones of Tuscany and ... the view goes as far as the south of Crete Senesi with a view of the whole Province of Siena to Monte Amiata.
The "La Cantina" apartment is housed in the old farm house on the premises that were used for storing wine and oil. The apartment is very nice inside and always sunny outside and a few metres from the amazing pool.
Why: “I Moraioli”? The name was chosen with the precise intention to keep the connection with the countryside surrounding the house. The name “I Moraioli” derives from olive growing: the Moraiolo is one of the many species of olive trees, and it is the most common one in the Montebenichi area. There is a tree just a stone's throw from the house that is thought to be over one thousand years old. The old farmers in the area probably chose this species owing to the high quality of the oil produced and the resistance to adverse weather conditions: the cold and drought most of all. The house is surrounded by several hectares of olive groves, producing a small quantity of extra virgin olive oil which, however, cannot be beaten in terms of quality. Bottles of oil can be bought directly at the complex. The complex consists of four apartments, sleeping a total of 10.The apartments are called: Frantoio, Cantina, Capanna and Parata.

“I MORAIOLI” is a farm holiday complex in the heart of Tuscany: a terrace overlooking the Chianti countryside. The complex is situated close to Montebenichi (about 200 m away), an ancient Sienese fortress from the Middle Ages. It is an old farmhouse, part of the building dating from the 15th century. After being abandoned for several decades, in the 1990s the building was renovated and the house came back to life. Both in renovating the building and choosing the interior decoration, and in the area around the house, the family who own the farmhouse and run the farm holiday business have tried to revive the typical traditions of rural Tuscan houses and maintain the harmony with the surrounding nature.

"We enjoyed our holidays in this beautiful agriturismo"
We have spent two weeks in Fernando Mattii's agriturismo. The site is very clean and very well maintained. Fernando Mattii was always helpful when we needed anything and he even brought us some wood for the BBQ. The rooms are spacious, very clean and the view from the terrace is just amazing: hundreds of olive trees. The furniture is dark wooden antique style, the sofa could be a little bigger, for 2 persons, it was quite narrow. The site allows you to travel to the most important Tuscany cities like Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Arezzo etc. The infinity pool is very beautiful and shows different colours in the evening. Fernando Mattii puts much effort and effectiveness is everything he undertakes.
Thanks i'm happy

"A little piece of heaven"
We never thought that we would find a little piece of heaven when we booked this villa, but we did. The villa was a credit to its owner, Fernando, with its well maintained lawns and gardens, immaculately clean rooms, and the infinity pool was an added bonus. Fernando was always on hand, working in the grounds, but never in an intrusive way. The facilities allowed us to eat al fresco, under a covered dining area, and we had very comfortable loungers to bask in the sun, The views from the villa were wonderful, every day the valley, fields and hills altered, sometimes lit by a bright sun, or, at other times, we would catch the mist drifting through the valley. At night the pool was illuminated with changing colours, yet another delightful surprise, and we would listen to nightingales, and cuckoos singing, and on occasions, the barking of a mating deer. During the day, swallows would skim across the pool for a quick drink. We are already booking to return to our little piece of heaven, next year.
