The Canary Islands region
The island of Fuerteventura is just 62 miles from the coast of Morocco. The island has more than a hundred and fifty beaches.
With a dramatic volcanic landscape, little rainfall and all year round warm temperatures, the desert landscape is unique and large areas of the island are protected parks.
Fuerteventura (Fuerte – strong: Ventura – happiness) has been described as "the land that time forgot". It is the second largest of the Canary Islands. Many people mistakenly believe the name of the island stands for "Strong Wind" and although there is often a steady, pleasing breeze, this is usually a welcome relief that makes the hot temperatures a pleasure.
The beaches in the south of the Island are reported to be the 2nd best beaches to the Carribean. The beaches are a water sports paradise – windsurfing, surfing and kite surfing take place all over the island. In the north you have the sand dunes of Corralejo and the stunning old town of El Cotillo.
Caleta De Fuste
Caleta de Fuste is very much an up-and-coming resort. In the centre of Caleta you can find restaurants of all nationalities. The Atlantico Shopping Centre offer's restaurant's, bars, bowling alley, a multi-lingual cinema, hairdressers, Burger King, Macdonalds and a large supermarket.
Caleta has a 2 golden sandy beach's. Caleta centre beach has a gently sloping shore which makes for very safe bathing and this beach is the one most holidaymakers head for. But there is a south beach in front of the Atlantico shopping centre – reclaimed from the sea and landscaped into small bays.
Landing at the airport, the first thing you are struck by is the stark, lunar-like landscape. But explore beyond that and you find vast sweeping sand dunes, lagoons, little fishing villages and isolated sandy coves.
Caleta de Fuste is an ideal base for exploring this island being midway between north and south.

"a fantastic time"
From the corespondence with the owners was first class. On arrival we were greeted by Helen with a welcome pack, containing water, milk, teas, and even a bottle of champain! The rooms were very comfortable with again everything we needed. The best sun beds ever! I would say it is about 15 mins walk to the beach and shopping centre. Further to walk into the old town, but a lovely strole along the front with all the lovely bars and restaurants. We ate at a few restaurants but our favourite was the Fado Rock where the best lasagne, paella and spanish omlette were served but also my friends were impressed with the meat dishes to. We did the island tour which we would recommend. This included a trip to the oldst church on the island, an aloe vera plantation where we given a lovely kneck massage, a stop at the old capital Betancuria, lunch , then on the way back a stop off at the sand dunes, well worth the money. A fantastic time for people needing a break!

"A superb house with everything you could need!"
We spent 11 nights in this house, which had everything we could ask for. We are 2 adults and 3 teenagers. The house is very spacious with all of the appliances you need. The shops are nearby, a pleasant 15 minute walk downhill. We used taxi's 3 euros for the return journey, we used the free shuttle bus too, although they only run at certain times. The towels and beach towels were a bonus and the swimming pool is very nice although a little cold at this time of the year. The house has wonderful views of the golf course and the sea. The weather was fantastic and we all agreed that we will visit again!
Nicola, thank you for your lovely review. You are right: the house, location and surroundings are very nice. I look forward to your next visit. Alexandra

"we had a fabulous holiday and really enjoyed staying at your villa"
Hi Alexandra Just to let you know, we had a lovely time at your villa. It was quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed the views over the golf course to the sea, even better, you don't have to get out of bed to enjoy them through the bedroom patio doors. We hired a car which enabled us to see some of the island and also go into the centre and supermarket (think a car is a must). The restaurant recommendations were good, we enjoyed a very nice meal at the fish restaurant in La Salinas, the prawns in garlic were fabulous. Also enjoyed pizza at the Cafe Italiano (think that's what it was called) in the Atlantico centre, there "grande" pizza is sufficient for two people for a lunchtime snack. The Hong Kong chinese was also good. Nesta's caribean restaurant in Caleta de Fuste was fabulous, you need to be very hungry before eating here. We also received a very warm, friendly welcome from Helen. Your villa is very well equipped and comfortable (although both Keith and I did find the mattress a little uncomfortable in the main bedroom, it seemed to dip on both sides). Would also recommend some padded cushions for the patio chairs and benches. Your holiday lettings page doesn't indicate you have a hairdryer but you have, would add this. I took my own but could have left it at home. (Airlines in England are regularly reducing the luggage allowance). We didn't play golf at Fuerteventura Golf Club, the green fees are very expensive and the quality of the course was not in good shape (probably due to the long hot summer). We did travel to Playitas and enjoyed a really nice round of golf. The fees are lower and the course is good would recommend it to any of your future guests who are looking to play golf, it is worth the 30-35 car journey and the staff there were very helpful and friendly. Overall, we had a fabulous holiday and really enjoyed staying at your villa, it met all our requirements and I would definitely recommend it to others. The location is good for a peaceful relaxing holiday but with everything you need a short distance away. The holiday just went far took quickly! Kind regards, Dawn Hamblin

"the villa is very comfortable and homely"
Good morning, thank you for you concern but we love your Villa and although the rain was overdue it has not spoiled our holiday. We have been made very welcome by Helen and Chris and they could not have done more for us. They are very attentive to our needs in every way which makes the holiday more enjoyable. The Villa is perfect for a holiday let and we would not expect any more than you have already done to it. The Villa is very comfortable and homely and if the flights are available we will return. Best regards George & Ann GREIG

"Nice, well equipped house, making it almost a home from home"
Nice, well equipped house, making it almost a home from home. Altogether, quite well situated for beach and shops. Cheap and short taxi ride to restaurants/bars. Very nice and helpful House-Keepers living very close by, for any assistance needed. Would definitely re-visit the house. Good sized for a family of five, and very comfortable beds. Owners were helpful, and accommodating, making the rental procedure professional, and yet with a personable approach. Kind regards, Jackie Birrane

"La Colina, I would go again"
This property is ideally situated if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. The easy access to two golf courses makes it ideal for golfers. The nearest town is a taxi ride away but at 4 euros each way it was not expensive and the town has a great choice of restaurants. a taxi seems to be required to get any where except Fuerteventura golf course which is only a 5 minute walk and has great facilities. Our arrival was late on a saturday night and the nearest shops were closed leaving us with no water or milk until the morning until we were saved by the neighbours, so if there was a welcome pack incuding these items it would be appreciated. However even with these minor inconvieniences we wouldn't hesitate to book this villa again

"Nice Relaxing Stay."
Very quick reply to all emails. Easy to book. We got taxi from the airport for 11 euro. to the villa. Key very easy to access and the villa was lovely and clean and well furnished. The location is good, with nice views down to the beach. The beach and shops a 15 minute walk, but a bit longer to walk back as up-hill. The TV was handy for the evenings to chill out with a beer after dinner out. The popular UK TV channels were handy. Wi-Fi was also very handy. The showers were very good, plenty of hot water at all times. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything needed....just bring your own bacon like we did as the supermarkets are expensive and meat selection not ideal. During the winter months it would be nice to have had duvets on the beds as the evenings are cold and blankets are not so good.
