The Mauritius East Coast/Grand Port region

The east coast can lay claim to the setting for some of the islands most luxurious hotels and resorts, set on first class beaches, and wafted by the cooling breezes created by the welcome south east tradewinds.more exclusive than the mass tourism regions of Grand Bay and Flic en Flac.
The number of hotels occupying the east coast of Mauritius in no way means packed and overcrowded beaches. The region offers a number of idyllic beaches for those who prefer the tranquillity of basking in the sun on an all but deserted beach. However, for those who prefer the more active beach life the local hotels a offering every water sport and other activity imaginable.
There is also no shortage of places to dine, especially for lovers of good food, with some of the top hotels offering everything from the finest gourmet cuisine to laid back beach bars Lovers of golf will also be drawn to this region, with three private championship golf courses and two golf academies located here.
The east coast is a very popular with many attractions. The glorious white sand beaches and abundance of water sport activities can be enjoyed all year round in this fantastic climate. Spectacular beaches and lagoons and historical sites and villages make this a varied and interesting place to visit.Cntre de Flacq is the largest town on the east coast and has all the amenities one could wish for. There is a rich cultural heritage and colonial architecture.

Fly with BA, Virgin, Air Mauritius, Air France, Emirates. 50 minutes from the Airport. Private transfers from airport arranged at nominal fee. Private driver can be hired for a fraction of the normal tourist rate. Best flight price tips....
As flightbrokers have different commercial relationships, it's important to try as many as possible, in case you hit lucky and one has a special deal to your destination.
The two to try first:
* Expedia* is the flightbroker big brother; its strengths are allowing multi-destination flight searches and many special offers, One nifty extra trick is if Expedia is cheapest, check out the near identical site Greenbee it runs for John Lewis; the prices there differ slightly and are thus sometimes cheaper.
* Opodo. For standard airlines' flights. Opodo* is owned by nine large European airlines, including BA and Air France, and as such for standard flights with main airlines, tends to undercut everyone else by a smidgeon. Plus it also allows multi-destination searches.
The best of the rest
If possible do check the others: Travelocity is often excluded by screenscrapers and has some strong exclusive special offers, Ebookers*, which is similar to Expedia, Lastminute.com* which offers Netflights* for long haul.

Had a great holiday with the family -our children, partners and 2 small grandkids(15 altogether). We rented 2 villas in the complex and were very happy with what the villas had to offert and the cleanliness and service provided by staff. I just wanted to say also how wonderful and helpful Ravi was throughout our whole trip. He made sure we had everything we needed and helped us with a lot of the planning and organising of our activities and sightseeing trips. He is truly a great asset to have. Ouma the maid was also wonderful and the kids really took to her. The staff at Beau Rivage also looked after us well even though we were not paying guests but we made sure we tipped them well. The kids had a great time and enjoyed the pool and all the water activities that were on offer by the nearby 5 star resorts. We also did some wonderful sightseeing trips all over the island. Looking forward to another similar little holiday in the future. |

We had a great time at this lovely beach house which really is steps from the beach. The view of the fishing boats in the lagoon and the sound of the surf on the reef was fantastic. You can watch all of this from a huge day bed on which we enjoyed many a massage. The snorkelling was also great form the beach but there were trips and watersports available from the hotel next door or you could arrange a private snorkelling trip with Fabrice and his spectacular speedboat. Our thanks to Ravi the driver for sorting days out, Ouma the cleaner, and our great chef Sobha who spent the afternoons shopping and preparing delicious meals for us. She was often accompanied by her daughter Trishila who gave the massages. There's plenty to do on Mauritius but you may find it hard to tear yourself away from this place! |
Guestbook for House on the Beach
Hi Louise,We just came back from Mauritius and are absolutely delighted by our stay.
The house is fabulous: perfect location, perfect facilities and equipment...
This is definitely the best option for a family wanting to enjoy both the facilities of the 5 star hotels in the vicinity and the space and independence of a holiday house.
Please forward all our thanks to Ravi and his team (Chitra and Ouma) for their kind welcome and their help in organising our week.
We felt in total confidence with all of them and the week would clearly not have been as enjoyable without their help.Be assured we will recommend your house to our friends Kind regards,Christophe HERVET
" Hi Louise.
We have spent a wonderful three weeks at your beautiful 'House on the Beach'. It truly is just a couple of steps onto the miles of white sand that we so loved to stroll along. There is nothing like bathing in the Indian Ocean and it is so safe, warm and clear turquoise on your doorstep that you really do feel you are in Paradise. With the care and hospitality that you provide your guests through the charming Ouma and brilliant Ravi, together with the comforts and unsurpassed location of your house, we felt thoroughly relaxed and revitalised after a hectic year in 2010.
Thanks for letting us share your paradise. Hope we can share it again!
Love David, Barbara & Robin A xxx
February 2011"
Thank you for your kind mail and sorry for the late reply. I have had tons of work since we returned from Mauritius. But what a fantastic place! We had the vacation of our lives. Never have I experienced a more lovely paradise than this. It's definitely not the last time we have visited Mauritius. We also loved the house and the location. So all in all we couldn't have hoped for more. A note for your future visitors: If any of them asks you for advice regarding scuba diving I can tell that Ravi set us up with a instructor called Dev (the owner of Dive Time). He was fantastic and showed us the time of our (underwater)lives. I would recommend that you give his information to anybody seeking these kinds of thrills. He's been outstanding showing us the best time, fixing any troubles we might encounter and providing a superb service.
All in all I feel that the best merits I can give your house and your staff is that I would not hesitate a second to recommend it all to my friends and associates and I sincerely hope that we get the chance to visit it all again.
Just to say thank you so much for organising food, Ravi etc etc for our holiday which was truly lovely. Ravi was a star when the one year old landed very miz with throat infect & earache and helped get medical treatment. Your house is home from home & you have outdone yourself in catering for families, esp with small children, those kiddie dvd's were a godsend for cranky little souls - all the aches & ails went away after a couple of days and the holiday really kicked in. Mauritius was magic and we are definitely going to make plans to repeat the holiday in a couple of years.
We had a fantastic time at No 26. I do not have words to describe our experience. We have been to Mauritius every Dec for the past 6 years and we have never experienced the REAL Mauritius as we were always restricted to some or other “la-di-da” establishment. This was truly a unique experience. Hein Cotzier

Just to say we are having such a wonderful time here - there is ( you won't be surprised!) a universal clamour from everyone to come back again!!. Heather Manners
Dear Louise
We are having a fantastic time in Mauritius - and think your house is absolutely beautiful! What a fantastic location - and very tastefully decorated as well.
We'd very much like to come back again and wanted to check if it was available for Xmas and New Year - both in 2008 and 2009? I know that this might seem like we are being ultra-organised, but we're a big family and always have trouble finding suitable accommodation. We're also worried that someone else might book it before us!
Thanks again for helping us arrange our holiday - we really have had a great time.
Happy New Year and best wishes.
Peter Stonham
Hi Louise - we are now home and had a fabulous time. The setting of the house is great and on the whole we had the place to ourselves -Tim Paul
The beach house is certainly a very special place, as are the staff. The children instantly warmed to Ouma and have been more than happy to be left with her. Ravi is a gem and it would be a very different holiday without him. Knowing he is there for any situation is very comforting. His help on a trip to Flacq A+E with the above-mentioned toddler for 3 stitches in his forehead was above and beyond the call of duty. I think there is a growing affection between man and boy!
