Shaded veranda with armchairs and huge cushions where you can snooze and read in the heat of the day or enjoy a pedicure or other in-house beauty treatments with a G&T. Two shaded and covered outdoor eating areas. All you would expect to find is there including a great dishwasher in the form of the lovely Ouma, the English speaking daily maid.

The house is accessed through a private security electric gate, which is manned 24hours a day and it benefits day and night from a conscientious security team of friendly English speaking Mauritians. One house is superior to it's neighbours and the only one with a private and fully fenced garden, which adjoins the beach. It contains a private outdoor covered dining area seating 8 +, a huge and decadent linen covered day bed and 6 sun beds. Sanjay the gardener brings supplies, keeps the garden watered and maintained and takes away your rubbish daily. There is a huge pool with paddling, shallow and deep area. The fourth bedroom with an equally spectacular views is on the second floor and accessed by a very steep staircase. This fourth room is therefore unsuitable from very young, elderly or infirm guests.
The telephone only receives incoming calls unless you request the call bar to be lifted. The two single beds are in a ground floor bedroom and this room does not have of a view. This ground floor room is ideal for children as it is next door to the bathroom but would have to be regarded as the short straw as the other three rooms are all nicer.
Smoking on the verandah would be OK but please never indoors. Cigarette damage to our beach house will not be taken lightly whereas other accidents are usually accepted as natural wear and tear For more details on what to do in Mauritius go to Trip advisor

"A dream house at the edge of a warm lagoon on a tropical island, with a long white sandy beach through the garden gate"
Every thing was perfect, it's such a magical place, so quiet and the sea just outside the garden gate. Couldn't believe how fantastic it was when we woke after a bit of jet lag the previous day, to the view from the bedroom window. We had a beach house a bit like this in Barbados about 15 years back, in fact they are similar places in some ways. The acres of sugar cane, tropical plants and birds everywhere, except the food here is much better value. Ravi looked after us, taking us shopping and driving us around. We had several massages at the house for only 500 rupees (£10) per hour and there are hobycats and other water sports available just along the beach. Really happy to stay at the house and walk along the beach and into Belle Mare, just swimming and relaxing, either in the sea or in the pool. The day bed for people watching is just as you said it would be. You have to pinch yourself when you wake up from a snooze to make sure your not dreaming. The four of us are quite good cooks and the kitchen is so well equipped that you enjoying eating in. What with the BBQ and fresh fish brought to the door. You couldn't find a better view from either table! So all in all we had a very relaxing and enjoyable two weeks at your lovely beach house. Really haven't done very much as it is so pleasant, except we did go to the Botanical gardens followed by a nice lunch at a Mauritian restaurant recommended by Ravi. We went to the market in Flacq a few times which is amazaing so full of life and colour, and took several walks to the village of Belle Mare, which has a reasonable Chinese supermarket. We found a nice little bar in the woods on our walk back from Belle Mare - Excellent cold beers and very reasonable. We walked up the road to a pleasant newly done up restaurant, Seasons, where the owner dropped us back as it started to rain. But, with freshly caught fish on the doorstep, bread and pineapple delivered daily, take away curries supplied by Ravi’s wife and noodles from Mrs Poona, we ate in most nights. You couldn’t find a better view could you and we bought some nice wines at the supermarket. Ouma was so helpful and brought us fresh local fruit and vegetables regulary and told us how to cook them. What a great place to sit and watch the world go by or be as active as you want to be! The people, food and climate are just wonderful; we’d definitely like to go back, but next time when the horse racing is on.

"Beautiful ! We should keep this place a secret !"
I will not bore you with the places we have previously visited/ stayed, please note this is a very exceptional place for those who want fine dinning in luxury of hotels within 200 metres, and the relaxing feeling of having a beautiful luxury 4 bed place place right on the beach , and being able to "kick back" and chill out mega style !! friendly people, supermarkets (selling all European food even a large SPAR shop) within 10 min taxi drive. Five star dinning within 200m walk along the beach, just "chill" leave the hotel life behind. Great for kid 100% safe ,really good. I cannot find anything but praise for the House on the Beach; the location ; the accommodation ; the amenities; the comfort; location and in case I forgot the location ! WOW . Thank you Louise for a great holiday

"Great location, lovely staff, excellently organised"
My husband and I stayed for 2 weeks with our 2 year old daughter in November. Having considered a number of hotels in the area we happened upon this self catering option and decided that for the cost and ease that a house could be a good option for us. We could not have been happier. The owner, Louise, really makes the difference as far as I'm concerned. Her information sheet was invaluable but before ariving and whilst we were there. The help, Ravi and Ouma, were exactly as described, trustworthy, kind and helpful. The house is a well used and loved beach house. It is not a minimalist, luxury pad and is all the more comfortable for it. The bedrooms are large and bright and breezy (with excellent A/C which only needs to be on for 5 minutes and the room is cool), there is plenty of storage for all your things. There are oodles of towels and bath robes and the bedding is changed each week for you too. The showers, whilst old, work perfectly and are very very hot. and the house itself is so well appointed, at no point did I look for something in the kitchen and not find it. The location couldn't be much better. You are right by the beach with plenty of beach either sied of the house to walk to. There are rock pools to play in, crabs to find, fish to look at and starfish in the water right outsode the house. The hotels either side are close enough and whilst we only used a couple - the Lux and the Residence - for dinner, had we not been as tied to the house we would have used them far more. The thing about this place is that it offers the best of both worlds. The flexibility of self catering, the great prices of the island and the accesability of the hotels restaurants and bars and watersports should you wish to use them. We had Ravi's wife make us dinner a few times - mauritian food delivered ready to eat to the door - and it was absolutely to die for. What a luxury on a self catering holiday to have food cooked for you, but to still feel relaxed and easy. The pool next to the house is clean and was practically emplty all the time we were there. The garden with daybed means that you can do very little (and trust me we did) and still not feel housebound. The weather was incredible, the breeze coming from the sea was very welcome on our hot hot days. In no way did we make the most of the island or even the local area (with a 2 year old who slept for 2-3 hours each day at home so that we were able to relax and sunbathe in the garden) but we would absolutely make more of it when we (hopefully) return. I really would say this was excellent value for money and have already recommended it to friends and family. Many many thanks Louise.
Wow what a lovely review. Thank you so much, it must have taken you ages to write and I know what it's like when you come back from holiday, always so hectic trying to catch up with day to day things.. Especially after a long journey with a little one. im so glad that you were well looked after and found the special magic of this place and the people, like we have been doing for years..it has certainly spoilt us for other beach holidays and we have tried a few over the years. Many thanks again Louise x

"The perfect house on the beach"
This was our second trip here with our two boys, 7 and 10. The house is very well equipped, clean and homely. It really is right on the beach which we all loved. The large swimming pool was used only by our family which meant the boys could use a ball etc without disturbing anyone. My husband went diving most days and this time my 10 year old son was also able to achieve his PADI. They went with David and Dev from Dive Time, base at the other side of Belle Mare. David was my son's instructor and he was excellent, very patient and thorough. We hope to be back again.

"Best of both worlds, great location"
I stayed at the property with my wife and daughter (17) plus her friend. The property itself is very nice but not luxurious and this was made clear at the time of booking so was totally expected. It was very clean and with a daily maid service included (except Sundays). Whilst it sleeps eight, the living room/kitchen is really only suitable for 5 or 6 max. The owner of the property provides extremely extensive notes to make your stay as comfortable as possible and its definitely worth reading these and taking them with you. We decided not to hire a car but to use the recommended taxi driver/tour guide and found Ravi to be an absolute star who took us all over the island. He also booked speed boats, swimming with dolphins, bbq/ile aux cerf trip etc.. He is very trustworthy and got us a good deal on all of these. His wife also makes excellent curries and deliver them to order. We also made good use of the local hotels, in particular the Luxe Belle Mare which is very nice but fairly pricey. We also use Hotel Ambre, which was equally plush but the buffet dinner wasnt a patch on the Luxe but was nice for lunch and is next door to the house. The Residence was a little bit further along the beach but fantastic and well worth a visit. The house is right on the beach and we had the swimming pool almost to ourselves for two weeks also. It was total relaxation for two weeks and if that's what you are looking for and don't mind paying the prices in the quality hotels you should book. If you are looking for 'nightlife' maybe go somewhere else.

This was my 7th visit to Mauritius, it is such a beautiful island and the people are lovely, warm and friendly. I decided this time to go independent of the hotels. The accomadation was as decribed, a basic semi detached house on a complex with adequate facilites, although could have done with a little TLC (apparently the place was decorated the day after I departed). The view of the Indian Ocean was wonderful. I loved the nespresso coffee machine, shame there were only 4 capsules available and there wasn't more to purchase. Instruction manuels (microwave, washing machine, TV, DVD etc.) for electrical goods would have been very useful. The pool was lovely and well maintained. There were approx 14 of the houses occupied during my visit in Feb 2013, so the pool was busy with lots of children. Nice place for families. Need to be careful of the house sun-loungers as the metal armrests get very hot! Also watch out for the coconuts falling from the trees. I loved walking into Belle Mare and found a snack bar called Sailesh Snack Take Away Service serving brilliant fresh inexpensive food; on the other extreme Le Troussrock Hotel has a brilliant restaurant and well worth a treat! Went to Port Louis and the Botanical Gardens. Its possible to get a local taxis and there are loads available, into Flac and then catch the bus, easy and fun to do. The house and garden are situated at the front of the complex facing the beach, so all the residents do use the path and gate along side, regularly to access the beach throughout the day, making it a busy throughfare, so don't expect any privacy! All the beaches are for public use and the beach hawkers regularly park in front of the garden in cars, vans for the day, plus the fishermans moped and bikes. There are even more cars parked at the weekends when locals use the beach. Listen out for the ice cream van which comes round daily! The owner supplies a comprehensive information pack when booking which includes a number of rules and regulations, including how much to tip her staff. Personally, I prefer to tip staff anywhere at my own discretion. Back to Le Trossrock Hotel next year for me!
I'm glad you found some aspects of your stay to your liking but sorry you were disappointed with the lack of privacy that you felt whilst staying at our beach house. You unfortunately stayed at time which coincided with an annual major holiday in Belle Mare where many locals were on holiday and therefore heading for the beach. As you will have discovered they are all lovely people inside and out and a delight to watch as they fish and walk with their families. For some of your stay a rare big family wedding of one of the other other house owners was taking place. Guests at this wedding had booked out many of the usually empty other houses which accounts for it being busier than we have ever known it to be. As you are used to L'Touserok at 10 times the cost of our Villa, I fear that your expectations of our lovely beach house were slightly unrealistic. I know that you were holidaying alone, probably because you like your privacy. Therefore despite it's private garden and eating areas, choosing our house which is right on one of the best beaches in Mauritius was not ideal for you as there will always be other people on it, especially during a public holiday. Hopefully the rather difficult circumstances that you came home to after your holiday have now eased and life is good once again.

"It really is...A Special House on the Beach"
We had a fabulous stay in this glorious place. Everyday we would walk past the exclusive hotels and think how lucky we were to have our own villa right on the beach! Staying in a villa for us was preferable to staying in a resort as we wanted to spend quality time with extended family, much easier in a villa as you are not restricted to a room or surrounded by other people all the time. The villa option for us worked well as we could sit on the patio and still keep an eye on the kids running in and out of the pool, as well as being able to help ourselves to drinks and snacks at any time without paying hotel prices for them. We bought crayfish and fish direct from the fisherman and loved being able to have these casual meals together in a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel restaurants only opened at 7:30pm which was sometimes a bit late for our little ones after a busy day, so we often opted for a home cooked take out of Mauritian curry prepared by Ravi's wife - absolutely fantastic. If you want to dine out, top hotels are an easy walk away. My father in law is 78 so we did not venture out too far, but really enjoyed the beach bar restaurant at Ambre, the hotel next door on a few nights. The staff, especially the caretaker/driver/tour guide Ravi is great and nothing is too much trouble.

From my first enquiry, Louise, the owner was very helpful and informative. She has taken the time to produce a lengthy document packed full of information, both about the island in general and the area in more detail. We were met at the airport as arranged and taken to the house. Unfortunately it was wet and windy but very very hot! We arrived in a cyclone which lasted several days but there are no weather guarantees in the tropics. The house is not large but perfect for four adults or a family with children. It is exactly what she says "a beach house". It is a holiday home with all you need, and the beach could not be closer. We did a mixture of eating out, cooking and making use of the BBQ. Ouma the housekeeper keeps the house clean on a daily basis and is happy to iron etc for a supplement. We hired a car for the duration of our stay. This was cheap enough and gave us some flexibility especially on wet days. The house is on a small complex and most of the houses were occupied at some point. Mostly by French or Mauritian people. The swimming pool is large and a welcome respite from the heat. We found the sea to be too shallow for swimming which was a shame as it looks so beautiful. We had many walks along the beach, both ways, past all the hotels. There seem to be fishermen in the sea most of the time catching the little fish, and there was always something to look at. We did explore the island a little but actually quite liked where we were. The nearby village, Belle Mare, has some really nice little local shops we were delighted to support. And then there are the large "designer" stores where you have a minder on entry, disliked that! It was most certainly a place to relax and get away from the pressures of normal life, this we did in spades!

"Peace and tranquility"
Met at the airport by Ravi our taxi driver who became our guide and later friend. When reaching the house we were met by Ouma and a pre-ordered shop was in the fridge. The house was very clean and of good repair and well equipped for the self caterer. There was lovely towels, bath robes and bed linen.Basic shopping available in local village short walk away.Larger shop recomended from supermarket with help from Ravi.Fresh produce market was fab and very cheap.
