About the home

Situated right in the centre of "La Falaise", the most popular quarter of Avoriaz, Chalet Ardoisiere enjoys uninterrupted south facing views of the mountains and pistes. At the centre of the Portes du Soleil, the World's largest international linked ski area with over 200 lifts and 650km of pistes, Chalet Ardoisiere is truly ski-in / ski-out and all the facilities of the fun-filled village of Avoriaz are right at hand including cafes, restaurants, ski schools, sledging, shops and supermarkets. At 97 square metres with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms the chalet is extremly spacious and comfortable for up to 10 people and offers many home comforts not typically found in self-catering accommodation in France.

This beautiful chalet arranged over 3 floors is ideal for families and friends alike. Small enough for sole occupancy by 1 or 2 families, yet with all the advantages of being in a chalet with gound floor access and your own front door and a private hot-tub.

Ground floor with separate claokroom and toilet, ski and boot locker, open-plan lounge/ diner with with comfortable sofas, satelite TV, DVD, CD, video and radio; large south facing balcony with sun loungers and BBQ; extremely well appointed fitted kitchen including full size oven, 4 ring hotplate, microwave, large integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric kettle, toaster, fondue and raclette machines.

Stairs leading up to 1st floor with well appointed double bedroom with south facing balcony and bathroom with toilet and shower.

Stairs leading down to 2 twin / bunk rooms, further bathroom with shower, further sparate shower room and further separate toilet.

Ground floor access with own front door and has 2 large south facing balconies (1 with BBQ and sun loungers)benefiting from sunshine all day long. Fantastic views over town and mountains.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region

The Haute-Savoie offers some of the most accessible Alpine ski-ing in Europe and the Portes du Soleil is the nearest linked ski galaxy to Geneva. Morzine, Chatel, Morgins and Champery are just some of the resorts that are linked to Avoriaz.

Chamonix, home of the Mont Blanc, is only one hour's drive as is Annecy, the pretty medieval walled town on the lake. Geneva is one and a half hour's drive.

The Avoriaz area

Avoriaz lies high up at an altitude of 1800m in the French Alps. It is situated at the centre of the 14 French and Swiss and resorts that together make up the world's largest interanational ski area - The Portes du Soleil. As the highest resort in the region it is snow sure with an average of 8m per year offering views of Lac Leman, Les Dents du Midi, Les Dents Blanches.

Avoriaz is car-free, making it particulalry suitable for families and children. Transport in the resort is by horse drawn sledge and tanksi (a track type vehicle).

Sledging is available right outside the chalet. There is an open air ice rink, a fitness centre with gym, fitness classes, sauna, hamam within metres of the chalet.

Avoriaz has an active claendar of events throughout the season with numerous special events, festivals, firework displays, competitions and many chidlren's activities that change on a weekly basis.

“Fabulous Chalet, Location and Service” Just returned from a spectacular week in the most wonderful Chalet in Avoriaz France. Our 5th time in the same resort and we have found our home from home. The Chalet has recently under gone a stunning reservation, downstairs toilet to be completed, but truly amazing for families or couples. Stick at 8 people because the lounge is much better than the pictures let you believe and you won't want to share it with sleeping bodies. The very attentive service from the young resort team really topped this holiday off. Highlights, hot tub, beds, quality linen and towels, Spider-Man in 3D on the TV, true ski in ski out. Been elsewhere, done it, 360 days until I return to my new home. Cannot stress how great the Chalet and staff are; done Response: We are delighted that you, as such regular visitors, have found the improvements to the chalet to be a success. Having both a hot tub and sauna does seem to be a popular move and we very much hope to welcome you back to Avoriaz.

“Fantastic holiday, thoroughly recommended.” I have stayed at Chalet Ardoisiere with Avoriaz Chalets for the past 6 years and this year I had the best ski holiday ever. The chalet has been completely refurbished and upgraded to an extremely high standard and now has its own private outdoor hot tub with fantastic views and indoor sauna. The kitchen has every appliance you could think of – including an American fridge/freezer with constant ice and hot water; oven; microwave; warming drawer and dishwasher. The TV is now 3D complete with surround sound and the chalet has its own private high speed broadband. The owners and their agents were extremely helpful and as usual nothing was too much trouble. Can't wait for next winter. Response: You are truly valued guests who have been visiting for many years and it is most kind of you to take the trouble to submit a new review. We are very pleased with how Chalet Ardoisiere has turned out and I know you are too. We look forward very much to hosting you again next year - best wishes for the summer.

“Wonderful chalet in great resort” We recently returned from our skiing holiday at Chalet Ardoisiere in Avoriaz. We had the most fantastic week made all the more enjoyable by the luxurious standard of the chalet. We knew that the chalet had an outside hot tub (which is truly wonderful) but we were also delighted to find a private sauna, a walk in rainforest shower and brand new kitchen, all of which have been recently added. The chalet is truly ski in – ski out to the huge ski area, is a very easy walk to the town centre and is only some 200 metres to the new Aquariaz water dome. The owners were on hand and dealt with a small electrical fault quickly and efficiently. Altogether, an excellent experience and many thanks to Avoriaz Chalets. “Is this now the best 4 bedroom chalet in Avoriaz?” We have stayed at Chalet Ardoisiere with Avoriaz Chalets before (2010) and found it to be perfect for a family holiday. Now, Nikki has carried out a full refurbishment including the addition of a wonderful, private hot tub with amazing views. Finishing off the day's skiing by soaking in a private tub whilst looking over the Morzine valley in total privacy is a sublime experience. The chalet is comfortable, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. You take your boots off the heated boot rack, take your skis from the private locker and step straight on to the town piste. For us, it is the perfect ski holiday and the chalet may now be the best 4 bedroom chalet in the resort. Response: Thank you for your kind words.
