"La Gouiranne" Gîte 664, our lovely villa for 8 people (three bedrooms upstairs plus an apartment downstairs), with a beautiful swimming pool, is located iat the foot of the historic village of Goult, "tthe "hidden gem of the Luberon" in the heart of Provence.
We are now taking bookings for your holiday in 2015. It should be noted that the independent apartment on the ground floor (isolated with its own entrance, etc.)may be rented independently for a short or long duration from October to May, however all rentals from May to the end of September include both the main house and the apartment.
This is the country of lavender and sunflowers, blooming cherry trees, wonderful wine, vineyards as far as the eye can see (AOC Luberon and Ventoux), chateaux galore, It is near the historic villages of Gordes, Roussilion, Bonneiux, La Coste, etc. and situated between Avignon (40 km) and Apt (14 km) on the N900.
Our villa in Goult, Gîte 664, "La Gouiranne" is situated on 2,000 sq.m of enclosed land, has a back lawn and a bamboo grove. You will find three 3 bedrooms (one with an "en suite" bathroom), on the first floor, along with an american-style kitchen, breakfast nook, salon, dining area, WC and bathroom (2 lavabos, shower and bath). The balcony faces south and overlooks the courtyard and swimming pool.
La Gouiranne, gite 664 is equipped with TV, DVD player, wi-fi, dishwasher, etc. as well as dishes and cutlery for 12 people. The swimming pool is open generally from May until early October and has an alarm, however use of the pool is at your own risk, children must be closely supervised at all times by a responsible adult.
The ground floor comprises a one-bedroom apartment, complete with a large bathroom (wash-basin, WC, shower) and a well-equipped kitchenette. There is also a large garage with access to the back lawn and front courtyard, which contains the laundry area and summer kitchen. Provence is very sunny and we often take our meals in the outdoor dining area in the garden under the shade of the tonnelle. We also have a very useful summer kitchen which gives on to the terrace.
The village of Goult, full of history and culture (as are all the villages in the Luberon) is a short 5 minute away.. Early risers will go to the boulangerie (baker) for the mornings baguette and fresh croissants to bring back for breakfast, or have it at le Cafe de la Poste in the village square. You will also find the butcher; the Epicirie Morel (for groceries and everything else) often featured in movies of the region; the wine merchant, plus several boutiques, restaurants bistros. Of the latter, Cafe de la Poste for dejeuner (lunch) and Le Bartavelle for souper are our favourites.
Walk further on up the hill, through the arch of the chateau and stop at the windmill whiich has a spectacular panoramic view of the hills, valleys, vineyards and fields of the Luberon. A little further on you will find the ancient "Terraces", a UNESCO heritage site. From there there are many walking/hiking trails which will take you to the next village or across France.
The wine co-op is 2 km away, the vineyards are everywhere, and notable chateaux, domains and names such as Chateau De Mille, Chateau Isolette, Chateau Pesque, Domain de la Verriere are nearby. If you are from the US, Canada or Great Britian you will find the selection to be enormous and the prices very agreeable!
Activities nearby include boules (in the village), hot air balloning, golf, fishing, horseback riding, etc.
Arrival time is on Saturdays around 4 pm, departure on the following Saturday by 10 am, we hope to see you at our lovely "La Gouiranne" Gîte 664!
